Ok, try this, works for me: - Remove the batteries- Insert its again- Connect the recorder via usb to pc- Copy one by one each archive you need to recover, after copy delete them from the recorder- Copy SYSTEM, RECORDER AND MANUALS FOLDER to pc- Format from the pc the recorder (i use a mac - disk utility) yes it is, ERASE!- Copy again the folders: SYSTEM-RECORDER-MANUALS- Unplug the recorder, remove the batteries, insert again- Turn on the recorder, it will display a different error, format the recoder, it will restore and reset the systems files.- It works for me!-
I think the battery contact points are not functioning properly. Even with brand new cells I get "Battery Empty " error message. Frustrating
Any remedy?
I had a similar sounding problem my Olympus VN-5000. I would turn it on, it would show "CHK" for a few seconds, and then "ERR." This persisted despite fresh batteries. The "ERR" message reportedly means a memory error. I found a solution, which appears to reformat the memory. Try to press the STOP and DISP/MENU buttons at the same time for about 2 seconds, and then the display should show "FOR". It will supposedly erase the whole memory, but will at least make the device usable again! I hope this solution works for your model...
We had this problem for about 2 weeks, we discovered that having the camera auto retracted after the "ZOOM ERROR" message, giving the camera couples of light slaps (slap the camera's LCD side and aim the camera down), this fixed the camera right away
After only 15 days mine did the same thing. I called the dealer Olympus and they gave me a RAN number and told me where to send it. I got a call about a week later. They said because the camera had moisture inside I was not coverd. The best they would do is mail me a rebate card for 25 dollars off my next purchase. I was like WTF. The woman said sorry but that was all they could do. When I asked to speak to manager she hung up.
Turn on your camera, when the lense is opened, hold it till the blue screen appears, extend the lense to his maximum forcing it a little bit then when you turn off your camera, the noise won't be here. Turn on again your camera and hopes it works. I tried it on my camera, works well at the first try then again the error, i did it twice holding the lense when you turn it on, then it worked perfectly. Hope it works for you. P.S : my english isn't well but i hope it helps.
