Printer will not print text

My printer will not print text. I have installed new printer cartridges, aligned them, did test and troubleshooting and I cannot get any text to print. When I print the test page the Windows box only prints, but no words. I've spent about two hours troubleshooting and cannot get it to work. I cannot print school papers from Word, Notepad, etc. Very frustrating and any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I am by no means a computer wizard, so be kind :-) THANKS!

Makes noises like its going to run but nothing happens. Why is light just blinking. I have checked power, unplugged and re set, still blinking

printer will not print text, and poorly prints icons or pictures

  • NothingTangi Jul 31, 2008

When I bought the printer it did not come with a black ink cartridge. I set it up with just the color cartridge and it printed black okay, but it used a lot of color ink. When I bought the black cartridge and installed it the printer stopped printing black. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times and cannot get it to print black with the black ink installed. The only way I can get black is to take out the black cartridge and use up my color twice as fast. What gives?!

I am having the same problem. No one seems to understand that the black cartridge is working, but the printer is not recognizing anything that is originally in black. If I want to print in grayscale, the only printing I get are the things that are originally in color -- they will print in black ink. Anything that is originally in black will not print at all. I have an HP printer.

After aligning the cartridges print a test page to check print Instructions 1 Load printer paper into the Dell Photo 926 printer 2 Click on the start menu icon, on your computer, with your left mouse button. Left click on "Control Panel." Left click on "Hardware" and then left click on "Printers and Devices." 3 Locate and double left click on the icon for the Dell Photo 926 printer. The printer control window will open. Double left click on the "Adjust Print Options" button. 4 Click on the "Services" tab in the printer's window menu bar. Double left click on the "Align Print Cartridges" button." Left click on "align." Wait for the "Parameter" page to print. 5 Compare the figures on printed parameter page to current settings in the "Align Print Cartridges" window that has popped up on the computer. Are you able to print Self test page from printer ( standalone ) or able to make a copy ? if you are able to make copy/print self test page from printer, this issue is with Printer Drivers, You can uninstall and reinstall the software ( download the latest software and drivers from HP website )

If you are not able to make copy/print self test page from printer, it is issue with printer/cartridges... you need to re-align the printer

Press - Setup Button ( press ok)

All of a sudden it will not print but as soon as u turn the printer on it prints like a test page

may be you chaged the catridge.
It is not the test page it is alignment test page just put the printed alignment test page paper on scanner glass and press the scan button to complete the process. It is alignment process which is printer is doing for self testing after installing new cartridge. Just finish the process.
Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks.

I just installed a new color cartridge in my 8650 Lexmark printer. The ink cartridge acts as if it is empty. Printer keeps telling me to align cargridge. Worked perfectly before the new ink installed. Not...

  1. On your computer, go to "Start," "Programs," "Lexmark Series." Click "Lexmark Control Program."
  2. Step 2 Select the "Cartridges" tab. Click "Change Cartridges." The Change Cartridges screen appears, displaying the animated instructions for installing or changing cartridges. When you have finished viewing the animation, click the "Finished" button.
  3. Step 3 Remove the tape covering the print head of the new print cartridge. Insert the new print cartridge as shown in the animation.
  4. Step 4 When the "Choose Cartridges" screen appears, select the cartridge(s) you installed in your printer from the list boxes. Click the appropriate box to reset the ink levels to full. Click "OK."
  5. Step 5 The Automatic Alignment screen appears. Click "Align" to align the print cartridges for best print quality. The printer prints a page with a bi-directional alignment pattern. On the printed test page, locate the number that comes closest to forming a straight line under the bi-directional alignment pattern. Enter that number as the bi-directional alignment setting in the Alignment Cartridge dialog box. Click "OK."

Printer is telling me i have alignement problems

Anytime you remove the cartridge the printer wants to align the print head. It doesn't matter whether you used it or not as long as you change/remove and/or install a new or old cartridge, it will ask to align. If you are printing text only and no pictures, then usually alignment is not critical. Though from experience, it is but usually 9 times out of 10 I don't need to re-align. But if you want to print pictures then you must align.
