Printer will not print text (by 9 users)

posted by kimbarley on Jan 17, 2008

My printer will not print text. I have installed new printer cartridges, aligned them, did test and troubleshooting and I cannot get any text to print. When I print the test page the Windows box only prints, but no words. I've spent about two hours troubleshooting and cannot get it to work. I cannot print school papers from Word, Notepad, etc. Very frustrating and any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I am by no means a computer wizard, so be kind :-) THANKS!

I am having the same problem. No one seems to understand that the black cartridge is working, but the printer is not recognizing anything that is originally in black. If I want to print in grayscale, the only printing I get are the things that are originally in color -- they will print in black ink. Anything that is originally in black will not print at all. I have an HP printer.

When I bought the printer it did not come with a black ink cartridge. I set it up with just the color cartridge and it printed black okay, but it used a lot of color ink. When I bought the black cartridge and installed it the printer stopped printing black. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times and cannot get it to print black with the black ink installed. The only way I can get black is to take out the black cartridge and use up my color twice as fast. What gives?!

My printer has plenty of black ink, but the print-outs are still faded. What do I do?

Thanks.

everything appears hooked up. Software installed. Worked fine for a month or two. Installed new cartridges. Worked. Then the power light just started blinking. Doesn't print anything. Makes noises like its going to run but nothing happens. Why is light just blinking. I have checked power, unplugged and re set, still blinking
