Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Canon pixma ip4300

We have had this printer for a year and has worked fine up until now. I have just changed the cartridges to compatible ones and now the orange error light is flashing. No matter what I do (ie press the reset button) it just keeps flashing and on my computer it just says operator error! I've tried taking the cartridges out and putting them in again with no luck - any ideas what it could be???

They were replacement cartridges with a chip which I specifically ordered so I wouldn't have to do it. I've read a bit more on the net as Canon help was useless and the number of times the orange light flashes apparently means different things. Mine is flashing on bursts of 5. I've read on the net that if you press the reset button 5 times and turn off the printer it should work. I've tried this and managed to print one sheet but I haven't tried since. Hopefully this has fixed the problem - quite how not too sure!!

Chips have to be reset or they will still show zero. trick with power/resume bottons just gets printer running but will no longer gauge ink level in that cartridge

I have a PIXMA iP4300 and just want to use it for black and white document printing. My 'M' and 'C' color cartridges ran out a while ago and I disposed of them but didn't replace them...

Hello,
Most of the Canon printers form the PIXMA iP series block printing when one of the cartridges is empty. You have some options: 1) change the cartridges (with original or compatible) 2) buy a chip resetter and reset the empty cartridges chip so they can cheat the printer that they are full. This way you will clog the nozzles of your print head and the printer will become useless and won't print.
That's why I suggest you to but even cheap compatible cartridges and replace them.
Hope this helps. Alex

1st: Please purchase the laserjet colour printer then use it.
2nd: Please check your cartridge no. and then purchase it. Your new cartridge is no match with your printer's cartridge.

Canon Pixma IP4300 - cartridge recognition preventing any printing happening.

I seem to be having a similar problem with my cannon pixma 4300 as certain others, i have just recently replaced all the inks with " original" cannon inks and all of a sudden it refuses to print anything, it says that one of the inks is not working, ( Yellow) I remove it, replace it again and the light comes on but when the slide retracts the light seems to go off. any ideas would be great, this seems to be a fault i have read a few times.
