There are two types of voice mail. One is from your local telephone provider and the othere is inside your phone system. Most telephone voice mail is signalled by a stuttered dial tone on the mail line. You would have to call the voicemail ( a local Phone number) and set up a password that will let you retrieve your messages. If this is what you have call your provider and they will tell you the number to call and give you your temporary password.

I have an Idect Model 6201 (single Handset) The answer machine is empty but when you call the phone it states that "This Mail Box is Full up"....How do I empty the mail box

It is crucial to understand that Voice Mail is a
service sometimes offered by the telephone
service provider (whom we used to call "the
phone company"). This Voice Mail is totally
separate from the messages we can record &
manage with an Answering Machine System.

Managing the Voice Mail is a function done by
the service provider's methods & procedures
and is not specific to the cordless phone.

Call your telephone service provider and ask them
to explain how to manage their "voice mail features".

Good luck!

GE phone model 29581 does not seem to have instructions for resetting voice mail phone just keeps ringing and won't go into voice mail

Voice Mail is not a function or feature of any telephone set,
nor does the GE 29581 phone have an Answering Machine
System that might be confused with Voice Mail.

VoiceMail is an option offered by some (not all) Telephone
Service Providers. Check with your Telephone Service
Provider to learn how to go about using theirs if it's available.
The original GE 29581 phone User's Manual is available at:

Good luck!

How do I set up voice mail for my uniden 6.0 without answering system

If you do not have an answering system (answering machine) on the phone, you need to purchase a answering machine or contact your telephone service provider to get Voice Mail service from them. (Most charge $3-5 per month for voice mail.) The provider will tell you what number to call to set up a voice mail message and access messages.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(for most Uniden systems with the answering system, you need to turn it on and then access the system from the handset to set the out-going message and length of incoming messages allowed.)

How do I retrieve voice mail messages from my uniden dect 6.0?

If you subscribe to a voice mail service, you can use your phone to access your voice mailbox. The new message
LED on the handset flashes and appears in the handset display whenever you have messages waiting in your
voice mailbox. When you subscribe to the service, your voice mail provider provides you with the access number
and the required voice mail signaling tone. You can use your phonebook to store the access number

How do you setup voice mail on vtech model #ia5823 an retrieve messages

The IA5823 is not an answering machine. It will work with most telephone service providers' voice mail systems. You'll need to refer to the instructions from your service provider.

If you still have problems, please repost your question specifying your telephone service provider and if possible the name of the voice mail system.

Uniden dect 6.0 caller id light wiil not go out

I am not aware of any Uniden phone that has a "Caller ID" light. If you are talking about the small red LED on the top of the handset, that is a voice mail indicator and can be triggered by either a voice mail being held by your telephone service provider (Called Call Notes by some of the "bell" companies) or an unheard message on the telephones internal answering machine. Most of the time this is due to a voice mail on your service provider. If you don't think you have Voice Mail from your telephone service provider, call them and make sure, now days they include it with a bunch of other features without you ever asking for it. If you do not have voice mail through your telephone provider and there are no new messages on your answering machine, follow the Reset VMWI indicator procedures in your owners manual availible at

Voice mail recording for my new panasonic digital phone

For voice mail service subscribers
If you subscribe to a flat-rate service
package that includes Caller ID, call
waiting, voice mail, and unlimited
local/regional/long distance calls, please
note the following:
L To use the voice mail service provided
by your service provider/telephone
company rather than the unit's
answering system, turn off the
answering system (page 30).
L To use this unit's answering system
rather than the voice mail service
provided by your service provider/
telephone company, please contact
your service provider/telephone
company to deactivate your voice mail
If your service provider/telephone
company cannot do this:
- Set this unit's "Ring count"
setting so that this unit's answering
system answers calls before the
voice mail service of your service
provider/telephone company does.
It is necessary to check the number
of rings required to activate the
voice mail service provided by your
service provider/telephone
company before changing this
- Change the number of rings of the
voice mail service so that the
answering system can answer the
call first. To do so, contact your
service provider/telephone
