Re: putting in new black cartridge

You'll need to power on the printer to replace the ink cartridge. Open the compartment on the right side. You'll see the cartridge slot slide over to you after you hit the power button. When the power is off the cartridge slot hides within the printer.

HP likes to mess with their customers, so they are sneaky. The cartridge you put in may be new still in box, but if its date expired (date is on cartridge) HP printer will not recogize it. Nice huh?

Are the cartridges used, genuine HP cartridges? I know that on HP and Canon printers that the brand name cartridges seem to work better than the aftermarket ones.

This is typical cartridge problem.Which cartridge changed?This printer can print with the only one cartridge inside it, whatever which.Try this: Open cover put out color cartridge then close cover.If blinking stops replace color cartridge.If blinking continues put out black cartridge and put in color.If blinking stops replace black cartridge, if not stop replace both cartridges.
If this not help your printer has problem in carriage unit and need repair.

I've tried trouble shooting "print cartridge error" plus print still in queue message. I've cleared both but messages still returns with copy, fax and scan lights blinking.I've tried the posted fixes but...

I had this exact error not to long ago. There was nothing in the book to help. I just finally changed my black ink cartridge. That stopped the error message.

So if you haven't tried that, put in new cartridges. Hope this helps.... :0)

I have a HP officejet 5510. I just put in a new HP cartridge

Like any other mass-produced parts, there will be some defective printer cartridges and it sounds like you have one. Since the first cartridge worked there's no reason to suspect a printer problem. I would suggest taking the cartridge back to the store where you purchased it and explain the situation. Since dud parts go back to the manufacturer, maybe they will exchange it for you as defective.

Hp officejet 6110 not printing with black ink

Hi lilacky-

Here are some HP support links that might be helpful... and a couple questions to consider.

Q: Is your new cartridge one of these listed below?
"The HP Officejet 6100 series and HP Digital Copier Printer 410 products use the print cartridges listed below:
* HP 56 black print cartridge
* HP 57 tri-color print cartridge
* HP 58 photo cartridge (replaces the HP 56 black print cartridge for six-ink photo printing)" info from: Installing a Print Cartridge Is your new cartridge a refilled cartridge? Some times those have special challenges. Has your cartridge been sitting a while in the box, maybe in a warm spot? Some times even new cartridges dry out a little. Was your old cartridge low or completely gone? Just as a test, if you put it back in your printer does the old cartridge work? Any printer error messages? Can you print a test page or an alignment page for your black cartridge? These might be too many questions but here are some HP support links with some How To information for getting more answers. Please let me know if any of these are helpful. see also: Slow or No Response from Printer -JW
