I'm adding an over-the-air antenna to my DISH system. I had no problem getting my local channels into my program guide for my 211k receiver. How do I get my 301 standard receiver to recognize local channels and add them into the program guide. The TV is an analog TV which has no problem receiving the standard DISH signal. I hooked up the OTA antenna cable to the back of the 301--what do I need to do next?

You shouldn't need to. You should get your local channels from Dish on the low channel numbers, like 2 through 70.

Dish tv support

Hi Vicki,
You may call them at
  • CALL US 1-888-615-3725 for DISH
  • You can also try this steps:
  • MISSING OVER THE AIR CHANNELS The quality of reception and number of channels available depends on the antenna's placement and the customers location. Weather conditions may interfere with channel reception. The Channel Display receiver menu option may not be set correctly.
    1. Check Over-the-Air Antenna ConfigurationCheck that the wiring between your DISH receiver and your over-the-air antenna is configured properly using Setup OTA
    2. Reset ReceiverIf the issue is only on ONE receiver, unplug the DISH receiver for 10 seconds and plug back in.
Please note: It may take up to 5 minutes for the reset process to be completed.
    3. Rescan Over-the-Air Channels to ReceiverAccess "Local Channels" select "Scan Locals" then "Save".

VIP 211k stuck on channel 96

mport68,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble, but would be happy to provide assistance on this. Try pressing 0 on the remote to exit out of the application. Are you able to move around on the screen, or is it giving no function at all?

Is it possible to have two remotes for the dish network ViP 211k receiver? If so, how do you program the second dish remote?

Hello my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network customer service. There is a way to have two remotes on one TV, the first thing we need to push the menu button two times to get to the system info screen on the working remote. Then there will be a number in a white box at the button of the screen, we will want to remember that number so we can put it in for the second remote. Now once we are on the SYSTEM INFO screen we will want to get the remote we want programmed to that receiver, we will hold down the SAT button on the remote until all the buttons light up on the top of the remote. We will let go and then press the number that we wrote down and press the # button. Now both remotes will change the satellite channels.

Sharp Aquos LC 32G4U not receiving any channels-

Most locations are real hard to get local stations using indoor antennas. If you are in a location where you do not have cable, I would try either a outside antenna on the roof or go with Direct TV Dish / Dish Network system.
I hope this helps,

Dish Vip211K receiver locks up on one channel

yes your signal is very good but it hangs up, the most important is the quality of your picture, cause signal is composed of so many impurities including noise, so dish be orientated once more.thanks.

Have Direct TV using a Sony Digital Satellite receiver model #SAT B2-2 /Sony Satellite dish purchased in 7/97. I get local channels thru Direct TV. Recently, local channels will show on the Direct TV guide...

Your dish is out of alignment. The local channel satellite doesn't have as strong of a signal, so a slight misalignment will cause problems.

It could also be an F-connector needs to be replaced at the dish or multiswitch (if you have one). Sometimes moisture builds up inside the connector and corrodes the copper stinger inside.

If you go into your satellite signal strength menu and find the local channel satellite, you're sure to see either a weak signal or an intermittent one.

One more thing, if a tree has grown in the line of sight between the dish and the satellite, this will cause signal problems too. In this case, you either have to trim the tree or move the dish.

Hope this helps!

P.S.
The customer service reps at DirecTV usually idiots reading from a script with no real field experience.
