Enter pc bios. can you see your cdrom listed in the MAIN menue? Goto Boot. Set your cdrom to first boot device.
Make sure you have a bootable CD in the cdrom. Still can't boot to the cdrom? Think about swapping it out or getting a new one.

I got the coooo2la and it shows 0xc0000139 error and I am unable to start up the computer in regular mode or safe mode what can i do.

This can be caused by a corrupted registry, malware, spyware, or a virus. My suggestion would be boot off of the CDROM and do a Automated System Repair (ASR) on Windows (not the recovery consol). If one of the Windows files has become corrupt, it will check file sizes and replace any files that it needs to in order for it to boot up.

If that does not work, or you are unable to use the ASR, please follow the steps on Microsoft's knowledge base as it should fix the issue:

Getting problem in formatting the IBM PC

check if the cable from the cd rom connected to your ibm pc if its ok , also check the master, slave configuration pins into the back of your cdrom. make sure that theres no conflict between the hard disk and the cdrom. Your cd rom may probably cannot be detected. make sure that it is working first. then install the hard disk. The hard disk must be in primary master and the cd rom must be in primary slave. then try booting it to your cd rom. also, try checking if your windows xp setup disk is bootable, it means that it can boot from cd rom. PM me if you have other experiences after doing what i adviced. Thank You.. heres my email.

Can't boot with Cd-Rom unable to install windows XP

Well, maybe I can try, thus in your bios setting you can boot using usb cdrom? Or maybe its time to change your cdrom drive already. If you can borrow a good spare cdrom. Take this in for the meantime in exchange for your installed cdrom. Maybe your cdrom drive is faulty. Then if this is ok, it is now easy for you to get on.

Second option, you can take out your harddrive prime it, then have a partition (say d:\) with a copy of full copy of xp installer, and other important installer just have it foldered. Then I assume you can boot using a floppy drive with win98 rescue disk. After booting goto harddrive partition with xp installer. then click setup and set it up in c:\ . Then your go other software, installed it manually.

I do this coz it much faster to installed using harddrive and also it is only in xp.

Hope this helps. comments if I miss something.

Unable to boot win xp cd. not detected by compaq presario 5000 series interneal cd rom LTN 403 DQ24

Drive requires cd drivers to run Boot CD.
Some versions came with floppy disk to start cdrom drives, This will also require a floppy drive.

You may also try hitting f10 to enter bios setup make sure cdrom is bootable.
