I would think that this TV has some colder solder joints around the high voltage area and the power supply as well. Check mainly the high power resistors area.

The first thing I would do even if set now out of all warranty is spend some real time on the phone with SONY.

Most places there is a 3 strikes and your out rule.

If set has had 3 major problems (they do not advertise this) the customer can be entitled to free repair or usually an outright replacement of the set.

Important to remember here you must not take no for an answer--persist and to get rid of you they will make some kind of resolution.

The people who do not complain or just go away get nothing.

I have lines on my TV when it first turns on and when it warms up they go away. I think the projector lamp is going bad and was wonder if I could replace the lamp myself and which lamp would fit my Toshiba...

this is known as hyperboard or hypermodule problem. Now toshiba knows about this problem (common) and has issued repair instructions for service centers. The bad news is this repair is quite labor intesive. When this fault first occured the thing to do was to replace the cuircit board. as time went by the board became more difficult to find. So the discovered and intructed how to fix this board on the component level. The repair involves removeing the board. This board involves removing alot to get to it. Then replaceing 11 micro capacitors. Let me just say it takes very experience tech some time and a large magnifer with twezers a few hours to do this. i have repaired a few and i still have trouble. it is very easy to damage the board. IT CAN BE FIXED and labor cost might add up. our shop repaired about 2 of these of month for around 300 and most of that was labor if you choose not to fix it it might last 6 months or a year.

I have a Trinitron KV-40XBR800. Won't come on.

the indicator lamp flashes a determined amount of times then there is a pause, then lights the same amount of times again, by what you describe there is a power supply or a deflection circuit problem.

I have a 40 sony trinitron tv once turned off wont come back on

The "D" Boards have been big problem causers in these Set's. Unfortunately they are not available from Sony ( At lease not lately),
and the old ones have needed to be sent to Sony for them to be refurbished. I would estimate the repair to be approx 650.00 to 750.00. This includes shipping charges, the refurbishing, labor, and service call. Having a Sony Authorized Service Facility come out, verify and send it off to Sony is the only way I know of getting it done correctly. Typical turn around time is 21/2 to 4 weeks.
I hope this helps,

Sony Wega kdf-55wf655 rear projection set keeps turning on and off

If picture quality is poor, be sure you aligned the bulb in the correct manner and be sure the cover for the bulb is not loose. Also, you might want to re check you picture setting as it might have gotten reset when you pulled the plug (I hope you pulled the plug when replacing the bulb).
Heres another solution (maybe temporary) to the problem of no picture and no sound for 30 seconds. I had my tv's power saving setting on "standard" before. After I switched it to "reduced", the problem was fixed. It has been almost two weeks without the problem. I think its a good fix until the new bulb comes in the mail.
