I seem to be having problems with finding which wire is the remote when hooking an amp up to my cd player. i have a blue wire with silver markings and a light blue wire with silver markings. this cd player was installed professionally at best buy. is the remote just a solid blue wire or one of the two i mentioned?
The blue with silver wire goes with the oranges which is illumination and dimmer the blue by itself nothing on it is the antenna that should have been matched up with the other plain blue antenna wire runnning from your dash

It sounds like you are using the blue wire (power antenna remote turn on) instead of the blue/white wire ( amplifier remote turn on) to turn your amp on. The power antenna remote turns off when leaving tuner mode.
Should be a blue wire with a white stripe in the plug that goes into your unit if its missing take the harness to bestbuy or an audio shop and they can prolly stick a wire in the empty spot. hope this helps you.
If this was recently installed - chances are good that your installer used the wrong amplifier turn on wire. You have the amplifier remote and power antenna wires reversed.... so when the am/fm radio turns off, it drops the signal on the antenna - and it retracts. When you switch to a different source - your amplifier loses its turn-on lead power, and shuts off. Reverse the blue & Blue/White wires, and you will be fixed. :D

Do you have the remote turn on lead hooked up to solid blue wire from the back of the deck? Your amp shoild be hooked up to Bluw w/ white strip as the solid blue wire shuts off when the tuner is off, its used only for the power antenna.
Red (accessory wire)- goes to hot wire that can be turned off.
Yellow (constant wire) goes to your cigarette lighter
Blue/white is your amplifier remote turn-on wire.
Probably have green and green/white- brown and brown/white-white and white/black, and another color for speaker wires.
You can hook one pair up to your cd player and find out if it's hooked up to the right speaker channel.
Orange (remote antenna) wire.
