You can upload WHOLE FILES from your computer to the Player, but you cannot CREATE a new file passing through the computer from the website you are downloading from directly to the player.
If you understand the concepts of a file and the terms upload, download, usb etc you "get it". If you don't know this buy a simple book like any old used "computers for dummies" for a buck, and read it.Don't be insulted by the names (also the Complete Idiot's guides are good) That's how this very elderly guy learned and my colleagues think I'm a genius

Try this: Plug the player into the usb port. Go to my computer find your player and right click. Go to format and left click this erased every thing from my mpc854 so I could start over. Then I found I was creating a lot of different problems with my player by not removing it safely. In the lower right hand corner of your screen there should be a little gray thing with a green arrow above it. Left click it and then click remove safely. It seems to have been one these things I did to myself. But now it is working fine. I guess that is how we learn.
Dbl click on "my computer" desktop icon and see what you have listed before you hook it up then dbl click again after you hook it up,,,see if there is anything new listed there,,,if so then that should be the MP3 even though it may not say MP3.Mine says Mass Storage. If its there then just double click that drive and you should be able to drag and drop.
is your computer had a memoryddr of 512? or lower?
I'll advice with this but don't know if it will work.
on the right side there are some application image. close the ones you can close then try to plug your mp3 player.

Try this, uninstall ALL software and Drivers to do with the Player. Reboot.
Then reinstall all the software and drivers again, then plug in ya player into ANY OTHER USB port and it should be detected and work.. If not.. its repair/replacement time :(
