Re: DVD Recorder+VCR

Are you putting in both media, starting the VCR you want to copy and then pressing copy? The first post mentions "set up" and that is not necessary for copying.

When I insert a tape, it is immediately ejected. it had been working fine until this evening.

Probably you are inserting a tape taht has it;s safe tab removed, and you unit is set to record.
Put some clear tape over the hole and try it.
Or try a different tape.

Tape Stuck

I've checked the entire user manual which notes problems like this need to be referred to authorized service personnel. Myself, I would unplug the entire unit, put it on a kitchen table using a phillips (cross-tip) screwdriver to remove the top metal shell. Remove at least 2 screws each side and 2-5 rear screws securing the top. Nothing like peering inside to see what is causing the VCR to get stuck and help remove it. No release pinhole or tape freeing ejector will work if the unit's tape is tightly wound around some internal object or the tape is stuck because something foreign is inside the unit. How do you record dvd to vhs and from vhs to dvd

For VHS to DVD, put the tape to dub in the VHS slot and a blank DVD in the DVD tray. Make sure the DVD is compatible with the DVD recorder (see the recommended disc list) and is unfinalized if you are using a R/W disc. Close the tray. Set the unit to VCR mode with the DVD/VCR button. Advance the tape to the place that you want the recording to start. Then press the Dubbing button (either on the remote or the unit itself). Select the recording mode (SP, LP etc), highlight Dubbing then press Enter or Dubbing. Press Stop to interrupt the recording.

For DVD to VHS, put a blank tape in the VCR (make sure the protection tab has not been broken off) and the DVD to duplicate in the DVD tray and close the tray. Put the unit in DVD mode by pressing the DVD/VCR button. Find the point at which you want to start recording the DVD. Again press Dubbing and set up the recording mode and highlight Dubbing and press Enter or Dubbing.

Note that copyprotected content can not be recorded.

The manual for this recorder is on the right side of the page here: . See page 48 for the screen captures of setting the recording mode part of the dubbing procedure.

I hope this helps.

When I place a vcr in my machine all I get is a snowy picture. Why would this happen? The DVD player works but not the VCR

Make sure the tape you are trying to view has something recorded on it. Also insure that the tape you are trying to view is not recorded at a speed your DVD Recorder/VCR combo can not handle. If it is a pre recorded tape and it will play on another unit, then your VCR heads are dirty. Try using a VCR head cleaner. If that doesn't work the heads may need to be cleaned by hand or possibly may be bad, a trip to the repair shop would be call for then.

How do I dub a VCR tape to a DVD. Also is the

You need a DVD recorder. Hook the VCR to the inputs on that and you will be set. Just put a blank DVD+/-R in, hit record, then hit play on the VCR.

If you don't have a DVD recorder you'd have to capture it into a computer and convert it to DVD format then burn to disc.

PAL to NTSC conversion

This is not a converting unit, it will play the format of the tape inside. To convert the signal you need one of the following:

1) A converting VHS player; they are fairly expensive.
2) A separate video converter (hardware); they run for about $200-$500; just put this between your VCR and the TV.
3) Capture the PAL on your computer using a software like Movie Maker via a Firewire cable. Than convert it to NTSC on your machine using software like Nero... do a search on Google for converting software. Or just watch it on our computer in PAL format, most computers do that... For this step I use a separate camcoder that has a passthrough feature. The VCR connects to it and the camcorder connects to the computer via Firewire.
4) send the PAL tape to a specialized shop for conversion. They normally charge $30-$40 for a regular 2h VHS tape.

DMR-EZ47VK Up-Converting 1080p DVD-Recorder/VCR Combo

I think the problem with the tapes stopping is that there is too much tension on the tape. Try another VCR and try to see if you have the same problem playing the tape. Forward and reverse through the part that causes the player to stop. It is also possible that the tape inside the vcr has become twisted or stuck. One can fix this if they are very careful opening the video tape. However, I would not recommend this for most people
