I pulled a dishwasher, about 5 years old, and moved it to a different location. Hooked everything up and wanted to give it a test run without dishes in the unit. Water fills properly and the sensing light stays on. Buzzing sound heard for a long time and then the dishwasher drains, without the water actually being pushed through the system to wash the dishes. Any idea what could be wrong or how to correct the problem?
I have a kenmore elite 665, and after a few minutes of "sensor", I hear a buzzing noise, and if it is the problem I have, it isn't normal. the motor is trying to turn, and can't, something is binding, next step is to pull it out from under the counter and attack the problem from underneath.

Re: Kenmore dishwasher "sensing" light
The sensing light and buzzing are normal let it do that on its on then let me know what happens its a soil sensing light and is supposed to run a cycle on its own to clear it but lets see .we will go from there ok

Dishwasher SprayArms not Spinning
I have the same problem with mine!! It's 6 years old, and I'm running loads of dishes through twice. Even that doesn't help! And I rinse the dishes too, so I have no idea where all these "crumbs" are coming from. Will check back for updates. Hope to get this problem solved!
First check salt level is ok, the next thing may be it's having problems pumping out after the primary wash.
Try running a hot cycle with a dishwasher cleaner or 2 cups of washing soda, then pull out outlet hose and check it's clear.
Check all filters are clear and in good condition with no cracks.
Although I am not familiar with your specific brand and model dishwasher, I can offer you some advice on how to clean things up.. First off, remove all dishes from the cleaning compartment racks.. then your dishwasher may or may not have a drain screen or filter near where the water exits that compartment to be pumped out.. rclean that filter thoroughly. Then run the dishwasher on its hottest cycle setting ( without dishes inside ) and after about 5-10 minutes..pause it and add in a cup or two of white vinegar then restart it.. Let the dishwasher complete the cycle and try washing dishes with it. That technique should cleanse deposits of components inside the dishwasher and everything should work as designed. I am assuming that you aren't getting any backflow from the drain system back into the wash area from the drain hose/pump and associated connections. If you are, you may need to give that plumbing a thorough cleaning too. Let me know if after you've tried this, you were successful.. If not, then I can provide you with a few other things that may help..
There is a relay on the soap dispenser, if it is a Kenmore quietguard 4, I had the same type of noise, the repairman replaced the dispenser, which to me made no sense, because the relay is activated from the control board. After the $130. for the soap dispenser, he ended up replacing the control board for another $160. Now the dishwasher only goes up to the dry cycle and stops. If you press the heated dry button and then the heated wash button 5 times each, the entire control face will light up and it will do some kind of reset and try a new cycle. I have tried the button pushing and it worked great till it got to the dry cycle, so I am looking for another solution without involving Sears. Good Luck!
My Whirlpool dishwasher is only 2 years old and I started having the same problems. I dismantled everything I could and washed and scrubbed the entire unit with EVERYTHING..to no avail, dirty dishes!! But I discovered a remedy! Try using Lemi-Shine for about a week with your regular wash-soap. If you are using the tablet form of soap, stop and try the powdered form. Follow the instructions on the Lemi-Shine container. You can find it just about anywhere for around $3.50. I was within "5 seconds" of replacing my 2 year old Whirlpool dishwasher when this caught my eye and I figured why not try it too? After the first wash I noticed a big difference the cleanliness of the dishes..and now it is running GREAT after 2 weeks!
