Re: emachines model T1862 WILL NOT START

Do any lights come on, or any activities? It is possible that your power supply has bummed out from old age or either powercut and surges , you need to open the tower(box) casing and check wat happens when you turn it on,if nothing happens then you need to replace the cpu , a box at the top of the in side of your computer box where all the cables leed out of , if fans turn on and lights check for power to your monitor. If you have lights on the computer and monitor check the cable linking the monitor to your computer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,there are many more possibillities of to what it is so ,i need more information please specify> please check if their are 2 cables running from your monitor to your computer box or if theirs one?if theirs 2 and their is no power to the monitor and computer , yet the plug is on at the wall socket ,then its your power supply.

Re: emachines model T1862 WILL NOT START

There are a wide range of possibilties. first if nothing at all happens when you press the power button. (no lights no sounds etc.) then the most obvious culprit would be a dead power supply or a switch in the back thats off.
Are there any fans or lights?
Please let me know...

Yesterday my friends emachine ET1331G-03w just bought 2 months ago, due to microsoft software updates issues upon restarting her computer won't start windows due to problem above, we tried to do f8 on...

As the computer is only 2 months old, you should be able to contact Emachines and have
them send you a recovery disc out for the particular model. As the computer may seem identical, in most cases a recovery disc from your computer will not work because of a different
driver or some other small issue.

How do I create a factory default recovery disc where do I find the area at

Not knowing the age and model of your emachine I will give you a few choices.

If it's an older series like the picture above you should be able to go into the start menu, all programs and then either PC Help and Tools or Emachine-Recovery manager. Then select Recovery Disk Creator.

If it's a newer model, Emachines and Gateway were bought out by Acer over a year ago and now use the Acer style recovery. Select Star, All Programs, then Emachine Recovery Manager. Load the Disk Creator selecting Factory Default disks first then selecting Application and Driver Disk.

One note, if it's an older model you will only be able to create the application and driver disk. It would have came factory with a base windows install disk. If you have lost this disk, you can reinstall using any standard OEM disk for the correct version of windows and using the windows license attached to the computer, but you will need the application and drivers disk to install your devices and programs.

If it's and older model and you can't find the disk, you can order a replacement set by contacting Emachines support, but there will be a cost invloved.

My emachine freezes up at start up

Try starting it in the Safe Mode: Right after the first text appears on the screen, start tapping either F5 or F8 to access the startup menu. It won't have much of a selection; typically safe mode, normal and prompt only. Choose safe mode.
Since you did not give the model number, I don't know if you have Big Fix on your machine or not, most eMachines do. To find it, open the Start Menu, All programs, then look for the name. If there, choose it and look at whatever error logs it has to show you.
If you don't find anything apparent there, click on Start, then All Programs, then Accessories. Look down the list and locate System Tools, then click on System Restore.
Select 'Restore my computer to an earlier time' and then 'Next.' You will be presented with a calendar and the dates in bold will be valid restore points. If you have System Restore tracking disabled (it is enabled by default), well, then consider it a lesson. This is the preferred method of restoration since it only refreshes system files and leaves your personal files untouched.
You may have to use recovery discs or download the needed installation routines from the eMachines website. Be advised though, if you do a full reinstallation, any work you have not backed up will be gone.
If you don't have any protection against an invasion by malware, at least download and install MicroSoft Defender.  It's free and can give you a fairly decent layer of protection against some common junk.
