You need to reset the Photoconductor counter this can be done when the printer has cycled as far as it can go open the door and hold the second button down until all the lights have cycled once then close the door and you should be set to print.

Good luck

Orange light is constantly flickering. I have put a new toner cartridge and now a new photoconductor kit in and it is still flashing

Please make sure to reset the printers' pc count. Below are the steps.
1. open the front cover. Leave the printer powered on. 2. With the front cover open, press and hold the stop/cancel (pattlnk_392009_184-e260%20stop%20button.gif) button. 3. Eventually all of the lights will begin flashing, indicating that the photoconductor page count has reset. When you see this light sequence, let go of the pattlnk_392009_184-e260%20stop%20button.gif button. 4. Close the front cover.
If you wish to confirm that the photoconductor page count has reset, print a menu settings page.

The printer toner light is continuously flashing even after putting in a new cartridge

After installing a new cartridge and the blinking light is on Toner Low, it means that the photoconductor is almost full and should be replaced soon. Press and release the Continue button (green button) to clear the light sequence and continue processing the print job. If the light is still blinking, replace the photoconductor kit.

I swapped Photoconductors from 2 other 1710's; no go. Reset?

Dell 1700 printer prints out a page announcing that “the photoconductor has reached its useable life and it needs to be replaced for a new one”. You replace the photoconductor for a new one and the error light is still blinking and the printer keeps on printing the above mentioned page.
Steps to Reset the Photoconductor:
  1. Power off printer
  2. Open the front cover.
  3. Press the continue button; while pressing the continue button power on the printer and wait (still pressing the continue button) until the error led is solid, then release the continue button.
  4. Close the front door, all light should be solid.
  5. Wait until POST finishes.
  6. Press the Cancel button 4 times slowly, the toner led should be solid.
  7. Press the Continue button until all lights go up and down, then release; the Toner Low led is solid.
  8. Power off printer and then back on.
  9. Press continue button once, print a test page.
  10. Check the information about the photoconductor in test page, it should display an OK status.

Note: if these steps don’t work for the first time repeat three times. If still the steps don’t work, the printer needs to be replaced for a new one.

Attention Light Flashing

Unfortunately, HP didn't make this indicator very descriptive. Their product specification page for this printer states that the blinking Attention light, "indicates that the printer media input trays are empty, the print cartridge door is open, the print cartridge is missing, or other errors".

You've already changed the print cartridge and the light is still blinking, so you should take a look at the other conditions described such as an empty paper tray, open door, and so forth. You also will want to look for a paper jam or carriage jam. These are two very common errors that will result in a blinking Attention light. does provide a web page that describes a specific problem associated with a blinking Attention light:

Job Stuck in Queue

See if any of these suggestions work out for you. If not, post back your results along with anything else that you've learned about the problem. Good luck.

I have the same problem. At least not it's printing but the lights still on. But while researching on the Lexmark Website I see that this printer has a recall. Check the website for additional details.
