Question about Emerson MW8102SS 1100 Watts Microwave Oven

Lost power suddenly

My microwave has worked perfectly and outlet is working fine. Went to punch in a cook time and when I hit start the microwave lost all power and won't come back up. Could there be a blown fuse and is it fixable from home? Help!

Re: Lost power suddenly

Could be; replacement fuses avail @ RadioShack or a similar place for a few bucks, so it's worth trying. Just remove the outer casing, look for the white plastic snap-on container (might say "FUSE" on the side). See this also:

New microwave stopped working after 15 seconds

Possibly the fuse / breaker is tripped, usually all outlets in one room share same breaker. Check breakers (or fuses) or try outlet in differnt room. If the outlet has power, (plugin a lamp to check) and the microwave still does not work, take it back to store for replacement or refund.

Was working fine, punched in time to cook, hit start ran for a second and then just went dead. No light, no display Microwave is 10 years old but never had a problem before

If the microwave control panel doesn't light up, then your fuse is blown. unplug the microwave. unscrew the vent grill, (2) screws at the top of the microwave. then you should see 1 screw holding the control panel. after removing that screw, gently push up then out. there should be a metal plate on top of the control panel. remove that plate and the fuse will be in that opening. remove the fuse and check for continuity across the fuse. Replace fuse and microwave should begin working.

Does not heat up properly. Seems it lost it's

Assuming the turntable works maybe your magnetron isn't working properly. Cheaper to buy new microwave then to fix it.

Built-in Sharp Carousel II Microwave Convection Oven died.

There are a couple of safety thermostats in the oven to shut down power if something overheats. One is on the magnetron tube (the microwave source), the other is on the cooking cavity. These sometimes go bad. There's also a power line fuse that may have failed, or become loose in its mounting clips. These can be tested with an ohmmeter; they should all measure very close to zero ohms if they're good.

Another possibility is that the control circuit board in the oven may have failed. I have worked on several Sharp ovens where the power transformer for the board has gone bad for no good reason. If the board goes bad the oven may appear to be dead as well.

Microwave servicing is best left to professionals. If you're thinking of keeping this one, take it to a service shop (or call for home service) and get an estimate. Then decide whether to repair or replace.

Hope this has helped a little. Thanks for using Fixya!

There is an internal fuse, and also a couple of thermostats, and I would be suspicious of the thermostat on or near the magnetron.

If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:
You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here:

There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel. It helps with troubleshooting.

Sanyo over the range microwave

I would say the internal fuse or the thermostat / thermal cutout failed. That may be an indication of other problems, such as a bad door switch, bad magnetron, etc. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa:
