I put the dvd in the drawer and close, then press play and the drawer just ejects. It used to do this 3 or 4 times and then finally play the dvd but not it just keeps ejecting the drawer.
Any ideas please?

- I took the top off, laser was ok, there was a problem with the ratchet mechanism that lifted the spindle that spins the disk after the tray has closed, it was fully lifting it so wasn't connecting with the disk hence the disk wasn't spinning. Somehow the top holding bracket had been knocked and was out of skew, I took the whole thing apart and rebuilt it. It seems ok now.

While recording video from a DVR, everything is shrunk down and in a "grey box". There are grey column on both sides of the screen and changing the aspect ratio won't make them go away. Suggestions please?

"Cannot play disk" upon inserting any disk; player seeks to no avail. This happens on all disks. Took the player apart, felt the motor. Feels like it's got a bad bearing, and when I started the disk up with my finger, it buzzed like bad bearings do, and stopped playing at different intervals because it just couldn't keep it up. This player is maybe 6 or 7 years old. I'm honestly disappointed that modern electronics don't last longer than this. I've got cd players from the early '80s that still work fine.
