Cartridge Failure

posted by tjpgraham on Jan 17, 2008

I have an HP Photosmart 475 portable inkjet printer (not connected to a PC) which will not accept a new colour cartridge. Each time I correctly insert the right cartridge it declares "Cartridge Failed" Any ideas

It IS a rebuilt cartridge and I HAVE removed the tape. Maybe HP (as do Sony) build into their electronics chip a recogniser for only their own cartridges?
I have the same problem.
