Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Frustrated with this TV

I have a 60pp9202 that I have replaced the ic's in twice. The first time I had no picture so I replaced them a second time and I also noticed 3157 and 58 were bad so I replaced them. The tv worked for a month or two before starting to flash red lines around images and when the tv warmed up it would go away. after a couple of weeks it went bad with a solid red shadow on images toward the right and left side of the screen. I took it apart again and found resistors 3153 and 54 bad so I replaced them and for 1 day the tv worked before going out again.
What would cause this and does a bad ic cause the resistors to blow or vise versa? Please help. This has been a lemon but I don't want to give up for financial reasons regarding replacing.

Thanks for the advice but I'm really not a repair tech even though I can replace and solder. Could you tell me where I can find the crt broad. I know where the red tube is but what is the crt broad? If there are resistors out should I replace them first before trying what you said or just try what you said first because I'm sure resistors blew again. Thanks for your time.

Well lets see first CRT is the broad on the neck of picture tube, and i was wondering if you have a volt ohms meter if its digital this can help also, anyway let me do some checking around because if the same resistors are bad again you could have a bad capacitor 100uf 160volts i have seen in some sets that when it still burns out resistors bad cap! Look around flyback transfomer this is the heart of the tv see if the top of any capacitors look bubble up.I will let you know when i find out more on this make and model number.

Since you can move your beams but not far enough the convergence ICs are good. Your porblem is with the digital convergence box. You will need to replace it.

I have a tip at which will help you complete the reapair.

Time to fix it !!. Replace two Ic's Stk 392-110, and get in service menu settings , and adjust point by point. After replaced stk IC's, check if any resistor look brown or born, if yes, replaced it with 6.8 Ohms. Some TV have ssb ( small signal board, replaced it or rebuilding) If you have questions? . This is a common problem with older Philip Magnavox projection sets. Over time one of the IC chips on the main power board begins to fail. You can find replacment chips and repair instructions on

Please help with Philips 60PP9202 picture issue

Hi first answer is no you can`t use 110`s to replace 120`s the 120`s have a higher current rating. Second answer is the part number you gave is for a board that costs $230.04 plus s&h and can be purchased here I would either replace both IC`s or get a tech to do it, you can get them by calling this number 800-575-9833, they only sell the good ones, there are a LOT of chinese stk`s out there especially on the internet sites and they are CRAP, buy the originals and you won`t be sorry, ps the originals are actually made by Sanyo for Philips, good luck, BMW Rider
