Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Scan to pc

I have installed the software about 4 months ago and have just tried to use the scanner. however, i don't seem to have the scan to pc option on the menu - the only optioons are scan to reprint and scan to memory device which is a bit of a hassle.
Whilst 'fiddling' with it there was a message to install, however when i insert the cd nothing happens.
As you can guess I am not a pc wiz so your help would be very much appreciated.

Hi - I purchased a Brother MFC 7360N and hooked it up to a PC running XP Pro SP3. I have trouble with scanning - the only way to get a scan to work is to go thru the Control Panel/Camera&Scanner Wizard...

Check to see if the scanner works with the Windows built in Scan and Fax utility. If it does, then download this Twain Reset Utility and reboot. Try to use the Brother scanning software after the reboot.

My all in one was purchased 11 months ago ,I installed it and everything worked, including the scanner but now ,when Itry to scan a document, I get a message "no scan options, please refer to...

You don't necessarily need the Installation Disk because you can download all the drivers and software/utlities from HP Official support for Free. (and make a CD if you wish)
Click here and select Operating System and download the drivers and scan software.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Scanner doesn't work. It says no scan options,

You can check if the scanner driver is still installed by going to Control Panel\Scanners and cameras (if you have windows vista, you need to be in "classic view" in control panel)

If you see the HP scanner listed there, you can double click on it to run the windows scan wizard.
If this works you just need to find some scanning software, not necessary the HP one.

If there is no scanner listed, you will need to download the software and drivers which you can most likely find on the HP website.

How to scan with mac

    1. Connect a compatible scanner to your computer. A list of compatible scanners is available in technical document 107203 "Mac OS X 10.2: Scanners Compatible With Image Capture "

    2. Install any necessary software drivers that came with the scanner.

Note: Not all scanners require the installation of additional software drivers.

    3. Turn on the scanner.

    4. Press the scan button on the scanner. See the documentation that came with the scanner for specific instructions. Image Capture opens automatically and a preview scan appears.

    5. Select the area of the image you want to scan.

Figure 1 Preview image with area to be scanned selected

    6. Click Options in the toolbar to adjust settings specific to your scanner.

    Figure 2 Options icon

    7. Adjust any settings in the drawer that appears.

    8. Click Scan.
The scanned image is saved in your Pictures folder in your home directory and opened in Preview.

Note: These are the default options. They can be changed in the Image Capture toolbar.

Scanning to import to a computer

Normal 0 The best way to scan images to save on your computer is touse the scanner software on the computer. Not the scan function on the scanner.
You don't say what type of scanner and software you have but usually scannersoftware works this way:
1) Place photo on scanner
2) Open scanner software
3) Using the software, Initiate scan
4) Name the Scanned item and save it to your desired location/folder
Note: some applications will automatically save to --My Documents--My Pictures
5) Repeat process for each pic to be scanned.

you probably don,t have the correct or all of the drivers installed.
The second possibility, is the software scanning program.
You could try 1 called paperport.
Hope this helps Mike@Compurepair.

Scan to computer

When you installed your printer, it came with software for your computer. It should have placed HP icons on your desktop. Click the one that says HP Solution Center and then select Scan Document. Follow the steps from there.
