Scan to computer

I have set up my c6100 and whilst all the other functions work I don't seem to be able to scan to pc. I only have the 'scan to reprint' and 'scan to memory device' options.
Any ideas?

Re: Scan to computer

When you installed your printer, it came with software for your computer. It should have placed HP icons on your desktop. Click the one that says HP Solution Center and then select Scan Document. Follow the steps from there.

Re: Scan to computer

I have an hp all in one 5160. When I set up to scan, on computer it asks what to save as. I choose .jpg to a directory on my desktop. Options on the scanner bed is "scan from glass" #1 so it saves the pix on my computer desktop folder.

Hi i just cant fix my problem with scanner i got HP Color LaserJet 2820 and if i want to scan it says not set up on pc but its there. Pls tell me step by step how to solve this i use printer through...

The quick and easy solution here is not to scan from the front panel of the unit.
Use the HP Solution Center from the PC to initiate the scan and it should work perfectly.
In other words, put the document(s) in the scanner or document feeder, then go to the computer, launch the HP Solution Center, and use the scan function there.
It's actually more versatile anyway and gives more scan options with regards to quality, file type etc.

The Scan-To-PC function from the front panel can be tricky to set up at the best of times.
If you absolutely must be able to scan from the front panel, I suggest paying for a chat session or phonecall, because there's going to be a lot of back and forth discussion to get it set up right.

Scan won't work to a computer. How do I set up "scan to computer"?

Make sure your computers set up with the correct drivers for your printer. You can download them here just type your product name/number and search Then you can use mspaint to import the image using the scanner. Open paint from start, all programs, accessories, paint. Make sure you have your document in your scanner and go to file in paint and select from scanner or camera.

I can not scan it says it is not connected to a

What OS are you using? Did you try a new cable or switching ports? (If a USB device, are you attached via a hub? Try directly connecting to the computer.) Did you install the software before connecting the all-in-one to the computer or did you let the OS find the drivers? (If you use the default driver, you get a printer only with Windows.) Is your all-in-one supported by the OS? (I don't see any drivers for the C1600 itself on HP's site. If you recently updated to a new OS, those buttons may not work if the device is sufficiently old.) Can you scan using the software on the computer instead of the on-board buttons? If you have the device plugged into a print server (on a router, for example), you can also lose the scan functions if you lose the bi-directional information transfer.

I hope these ideas help.

The HP All in Ones require that you install and run the suite of software to set up computer scanning On my all in one, the message says, you must install the drivers to do this. The suite of software is on the CD. It is also available through
Make sure you download the full software suite from their website or your CD.

Hi, My HP m2727 AIO is not working properly. Specifically, there seems to be a problem with the scanner function. Each time I key in "Scan" I receive a "cannot detect" message.

Hi Cheryl,

If you are scanning from your pc and seeing this error message it could mean that your scan drivers are disassociated. If you have multiple multi function printers or scanners that could be causing the problem as it creates a conflict with the software framework. I would recommend uninstalling the software as well as any other multifunction and reinstalling the software as well as the additional product software.

If you are scanning from the printer it may not be set up and you would have to set up scan destinations.

Im trying to scan and the canon says: "set the pc to start scan"...? Nothing pops up on the computer, what do i need to do?

I'm using an MG5220 and got this same message. Here's how I fixed it.

On the printer control panel press the soft key to select the scan function. Then hit the soft key to select Save/Forward. Then select Foward scanned data to a PC. On the next screen make sure to select the appropriate PC. In my case I'm connected wireless but the selection was set to USB connection and that's why I was getting the error noted above. When I picked the PC that is connected wirelessly everything worked fine again.

Are you having this problem when you are using the buttons on the front of the printer? Have you tried directly clicking on the HP Solution Center icon on your desktop, and scanning from within that program?
