Re: No sound

Go to System properties - hardware - device manager - there will be a list of all u;re components, see if u're sound card is disabled, and if so enable it, or if it is with bad driver (am exclamation mark or a question mark will be on the left side of the device) and than chose to update driver ....

Trouble installing a maya44 usb audio device to my BPM studio software

XP works GREAT, and Vista still has problems. So if you want a reliable compatible OS, switch back to XP and next year Vista should be good to go. MS is notorious for marketing Operating Systems before they are fully compatible. So, if you like problems and waiting for solutions, stick with Vista as it may work correctly someday soon.

Sound Drivers

you have to download the sound drivers and install the software..can't give you the exact driver as haven't specified much about your PC.
still try to download one of the common driver like realtek- Ac97... from the following URL ..

or try to download other audio drivers and install it...your problem would be fixed.

hope to get rated as fixed...

Problem with Windows XP recognizing Creative Sound Card

It sounds like a software problem. Though you did the right thing by entering the bios & disabling the onboard sound. That should have been enough. Did you uninstall the old intergrated sound drivers before adding the 24bit card? Just about all the drivers & upgrades for your 4600 through Dell is Creative software & thats why your having a tough time. I would put everything back to how it was. Re-enable the intergrated sound & reboot! Run system restore & check that every thing is running right!! Look at this dell web site for the sound drivers you have at this link:
If you must, install a upgrade for your intergrated sound. Just so you can uninstall it after a reboot. Re disable the sound in the bios. Do not install your new card yet. While back in windows device manager you should be missing a PCI device. Shut down install the new sound card. Hopefully windows will want the drivers & all runs fine. If still no it could be a bad card (i know what your thinking but it's possible). The only thing left is the regestry is using the wrong PCI device.

M-Audio FireWire 410 distorts and jams

Theres the reason I believe when you installed XP you have install the driver for that model:  XP fails to load the drivers possibly out of date and then it wont load it however you go here and find your one and install that you wont afterwards.
