Thank you otacon I did what you said but there is no usb driver software to download for the model NV-DS65B. There is a driver for NV-DS65 however but that is a different model. Please advise.

  • Xavo Jan 20, 2008

    Hello again otacon
I downloaded DS65 driver and tried connecting the camcorder to my PC but failed. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Please advise.

  • Xavo Jan 21, 2008

I want to use my Panasonic NV-DS65B cancorder as a webcam sometimes but I do not have the CD for the usb driver software. I was advided by otacon to download the driver for NV-DS65 which I did but it didn't work. I am not sure if the driver is wrong because the 'B' is missing in the model no. or that I am doing something wrong. Pls advise.

  • Xavo Jan 21, 2008

    Hi otacon
    It still doesn't work.
    Any further advice?

  • Xavo Jan 21, 2008

When I click this url I get a message saying "timeout accessing source" and nothing happens

  • Xavo Jan 21, 2008

I tried this but it just says it cannot locate the drivers.

  • Xavo Jan 21, 2008

When I clicked on that url I received a security warning "intranet settings are now turned off by default." and could go no further.

  • Xavo Jan 21, 2008

I definitely have camcorder model NV-DS65B but I cannot find the drivers for this model on Panasonic sight you sent me.

  • Xavo Jan 21, 2008

    not recognised at all.

  • Xavo Jan 22, 2008

When I connect the camera the computer tells me "there is new hardware to install". The camera itself says "connect with PC". The wizard comes up to install the hardware but it comes back with a message that the software cannot be located after I ask for it to locate the software automatically. I burned the driver (you told me to download for NV-DS65) on to a CD and put it in drive D but when I choose drive D for the computer find the software it tells me its not there.
    Please advise.

Let me clarify because I may have misunderstood your last question...When I connect the camera the computer tells me "there is new hardware to install".

I ran setup.exe for USB device driver 3.00P from a folder titled Win98SE ME and that worried me as I use XP but I carried on anyway. Halfway through it I got a message: "The siftware you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP
Continuing installation may impair or destabilise the correct operation of your system. Microsoft strongly recommends you stop installation"
    Please advise.

I went to the site and they are asking me to pay to join before I can download the driver for NV-DS65B. What is your advice.

  • Xavo Jan 22, 2008

This is what I have done so far:
    Downloaded NV-DS65 driver
    Installed driver
After the driver is installed I am asked to restart the computer...I do this
When computer starts up again I go to control panel-scanners and cameras-add imaging device-but there is no option given to me for panasonic driver I get other manufacturer options but not the one for my camera. The camera is still not connected.
    Please advise.

  • Xavo Jan 22, 2008

Pauldonp has recommended I get the driver from www.phazeddl.com however they asking me to pay membership in order to download the driver for NV-DS65B I don't know what to do!

  • Xavo Jan 22, 2008

I did what you said I ignored the warning after running setup.exe and checked imaging devices, and universal serial bus controllers the "other devices" option doesn't seem to be there...and I cannot see the camera. What do I do now?

  • Xavo Jan 22, 2008

I did exactly as you said. I downloaded it again. I reinstalled it and a message came up saying "usb driver has already been installed. You must remove it once to do reinstallation." I did this and then I was asked to restart. After restart I still can't find the camera. There must be something I am doing wrong. I appreciate your patience but don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Just to make sure you're getting the right drivers, here is the direct download link for the NV-DS65B Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP drivers.

These are the drivers for the NV-DS65B, not the DS65.

  • Yonatan Horan Jan 21, 2008

What didn't work after you connected the camera to your PC and used the drivers otacon gave you? Did the computer recognize the camera and you just weren't able to use it the way you wanted to or was it not recognized at all?

  • Yonatan Horan Jan 21, 2008

Then the problem isn't with the drivers. Are you sure the USB port you're connecting the camcorder to works fine? Have you tried connecting other devices to it since you formatted? The cable might be malfunctioning and it just happened to be right when you formatted by coincidence so also try using another cable if you can. Your computer needs to recognize that a device has been connected, only then can you install drivers.

  • Yonatan Horan Jan 22, 2008

There's no need for you to burn the drivers on a CD. Please unzip the USB_Drivers.zip file and then double-click the Setup.exe file. Run the installation and the drivers should install properly.

  • Yonatan Horan Jan 22, 2008

That's a standard message that comes up for drivers that haven't been "verified" by Microsoft. I'm quite confident that Panasonic knows how to make proper drivers for their devices, I've ran into this message countless times before and have always ignored it, it doesn't really mean anything. The folder is called 98SE_ME because the drivers are for Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP.

  • Yonatan Horan Jan 22, 2008

That site cannot have a different driver for the camcorder as the chance that someone other than Panasonic made drivers for windows for this camcorder are non-existent so you'd be paying money for a membership and getting the same driver panasonic are giving you for free on their website. Just as both I and otacon said, you should ignore that warning message, it's not serious, as any computer technician will tell you.

  • Yonatan Horan Jan 22, 2008

By "installing the driver" do you mean you ignored the warning when it came up after running setup.exe? If so, after the computer restarts could you right click My Computer, click on Properties, then go to the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager. In device manager, tell me if there's a black exclamation mark in a yellow circle next to your Panasonic camera. The camera will be either under "Imaging devices", "Other devices" or "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

hi I dont think the problem is with the camera software it seems to be that your usb port software is corrupt try using hardware install wizard and reinstall the drivers for usb port or try using differnt usb port see if this makes any difference

I have been looking around and in the manual...why does Panasonic say that only the DS65 has a USB connector? You sure you have the DS65b?

When you connect the camera is there any reaction XP?

    Damen Wong Jan 22, 2008

You need to to run the setup.exe like yonatanh said and it will install the drivers (don't connect the camera until prompted to do so).

When you get that warning message, just ignore it and continue with installation.

what driver are you looking for. camcorder w/ vista should not require drivers as adequate native drivers are included. if it's a specific driver for functionality not supported by native drivers, run the installer in compatibility mode with adminstrative privileges and it should install just fine.
