I started my dell inspiron 1501 laptop but could not see the display. consulted a technician who says the may be a problem with the memory chips. he tested each ram individually it worked i.e 512mb but when both are put the machine fails to boot. advice thx

Make sure it is the same speed,etc as the original::

After the dell bios boot screen you should get a blank screen with a blue bar at the top saying www.dell.com when you get to that screen you need to press Ctrl+F11 and you should start the recovery partition

yeah look on the keyboard for something that looks like two monitors on the F-key row. It might even say LCD on it. Hold down the Fn key and push the F-key that has the pic.
You should have the other monitor hooked up because what you are changing is the display modes. To switch modes you hold down the Fn key and tap the F-key with the pic. Let me know if anything happens.
Have you installed any application/program prior to the blue screen? Most blue screen causes your system not to boot to your operating system anymore.
