My cousins sync did the same thing...its the internal speaker. i really dont think you can fix it yourself. it might just be cheaper to buy a new phone.

Try to reset the factory setting & check the volume.
Some ringtones are defaultly low volume ,so try to change with new ringtone.
Not solved, then check with the authorize service center for Speaker Check.

Ringer is set at max but is hard to hear

If the ringout volume is very low, then try not to select a soft, silent or low ringing tone. Try to choose a ringing tone that is loud so that you can hear your phone ringout.
Hope that was helpful?

Can increase the volume of calls

Yes, you can. To adjust the volume on a call, press the volume-up button during a call. There is not (as far as I know) a way to adjust the call volume when you're not actually in a call.

open up your phone then push one of the buttons on the outside edge at a time until you see the volume chart appear. Each time you push that button you will change the setting from mute to vibrate to louder and louder rings.

When someone phones me, the phone doesnt ring it just vibrates. but when i answer they other person can hear me but i cant hear them. My phone is a Samsung S401i

I know it's a flip phone and I am not familiar with this model, but sometimes the <--> button on the side is pressed by accident, this can adjust the volume [*during a call*] up or down.

W220 hearing problem!

The internal screen settings only adjust volume of ringer, the external button on side adjusts ear piece/hand set volume.
If the volume buttons do not turn up the volume of the hand set then the handset is defective
