Minimum memory of laptop?

The specification does not tell you the minimum memory. If available you may put 64/128/256/512MB DDR2 667 MHz ram. But these days minimum ram size available in the market is 1GB DDR2 667MHz ram. So this is the minimum.
The most important is the maximum memory it can support. This model can support maximum 2GB DDR2 ram.

After installing 1gb ram to my existing 256mb(same type), the computer restarts just after booting. please Help!

it is because the ram you just installed may be not working
remove it and turn on the computer

it is not good using different size ram (1GB & 256 MB)
use same size RAM
it is better

Cant pick both RAM same time

hopefully you inserted two similiar 1 GB RAM memory devices by the same manufacturer into the right slots 1

you may have a board that:
- has four slots available (two + two)
- but supports only a maximum of 1GB (two similiar 512mb devices)
or
-supports only a max of 2 GB of the same kind and same manufacturer,

so inserting all u got and hoping the PC does the memory management might not work!

please see the mainboard manual (if u have one) or download it from the manufacturer's site.

T5082 RAM upgrade

you should always use the same size ram chips, never mix sizes, this can and will cause failures

I have a Toshiba Tecra M2 Laptop. I just installed (2) 1gb ram chips. Bios only shows 1.256 Windows only shows 1.256 Where or how do I access or show 2gb RAM>

This could be bad memory or possibly (but unlikely) a bad memory controller. To test this remove one stick and power it on and look at the size, than switch the pieces of memory and check that one. If they both show 1gb then try each stick in the other slot. If they both do not show 1 gb then there is the problem.
