Upgrading to Windows 7?

Yes you can however HP only supports Windows XP (32-Bit), Windows Vista (32 and 64 Bit) No official support for windows 7.

However Most modern PC's will run windows 7 and most drivers are available. Upgrade at your own risk.... There might be some drivers that you wont find and may cause problems with your PC.

But why upgrade to 64bit if you are not upgrading memory to 4GB+?

Did you check if your computer is capable of running Windows 8 comfortably? Have you followed the upgrade procedure? 2 GB memory seems rather too little. What was the original Windows version? XP, Vista, Windows 7. Was the original OS 32 bits or 64 bits?

Hello kelvinvu, according to the information that I gathered from this computer model, it has Windows Vista 32 bit home premium installed on it. Windows XP is an older operating system so you can't "upgrade" to it. You could however install a fresh copy (more likely completely erasing all your previous information on vista and data files) or you could upgrade to Windows 7. Since you are using "Windows Vista 32 bit home premium", you have to upgrade to "Windows 7 32 bit home premium" or better. So if you were trying to "upgrade" to Windows 7 Home Basic, it will not allow that since it considers that a downgrade in the Operating System. You should actually be able to pop in the Windows 7 Home Premium CD while vista is running and start the upgrade process pretty painlessly that way. Just access the CD and walk through the menus for upgrading Vista to Windows 7. As a reminder, you must use the 32 bit discs. If you try and use the 64 bit discs (a different operating system as far as windows is concerned) you will have to go through the same process of installing a new version of windows (not upgrade). better wa y is to downgrade your OS back to Vista 64bit, the problem with windows 7 is that most of the drivers operational to xp and vista are still not supported by windows 7.
