Question about Hitachi CP-S860 Multimedia Projector

Vertical green lines and Red/green shadows on the right side of the image

On my Hitachi CP-S860 projector, I am getting some vertical green lines and green and red shadowing on the right side. I also have two vertical thick purple lines on both sides of the screen that don't distort the picture too much, I just know that it can work better, so I want to fix it. I have no clue as to how to fix these problems and would appreciate some enlightenment.

I have this problem on my CPX985w, almost exactly as you describe, I'm going to pull the main board out and check the capacitors, as that seems the likely problem, i'll update with what i find....

Oh dear,.......I guess I was'nt being rude! - I was being a little silly!!
-- I have now 'seen' the part where it says how many "solutions" .My apologies there.

...not sure about the "T adoro de muitão!!!" chap though.Perhaps he's not an English speaker?
If I find a solution myself I'll be sure to post here. :)

Well, ...please dont think Im being rude, or trying to annoy anybody, but.......how about having the 'help' or solutions showing up on the pages so that 'browsing' folk can glean some help also?
Perhaps this is a closed club, kinda thing? , but all I can do is read peoples problems. Not helpful for me or the other thousands that come here to look either.

SOURCE: HItach cp-s860 problem

I have the same Hitachi CP-S860 and have found the problem is with the convergence on the left and right sides of the picture. The one I am working on has a bad ghosting problem also - you can really see the ghosting when the MENU is on the screen. The center convergence is OK. Following Pics show Circle / Cross pattern - 1st pic the red, green and blue are turned on - 2nd pic shows green and blue on only. I do not have the service manual for this set so I do not know the convergence procedure on this one. I have mostly been repairing NEC, Sanyo, Panasonic and Christie LCD & DLP Projectors.

My projector has lines on the screen. new bulb didn't help

If this projector is connected by Component Video (3 or 5 wires) instead of HDMI, the most common color related problems are caused by having one of the 3 video cables (Red, Blue or Green) with a bad connector. If everyone is a green smurf the problem is with the red cable. If everyone is a red smurf the problem is the blue cable. If the green was bad you wouldn't see anything.
Another possibility is if the green is plugged into the yellow jack instead of green jack on the projector, you could see what you are describing.
If everything checks out, take the projector to a repair facility.
If you are connected by an HDMI cable, (combined with the fact you mentioned vertical lines not horizontal) then take the projector to a repair facility.
All of this assumes that you don't just have a bad Cable Box or Blu-ray player or Home Theater Receiver. (The source)

It does sound like this is an alignment problem of the blue LCD or a problem on the main board controlling it. I am not sure if this is a field adjustable unit. A call to the authorized service center should provide that answer.

We have had similar issue w/ multiple LP70+ projectors. The units get to be 1-2 years old and suddenly the right vertical edge of the display is distorted. There is usually a shadowed vertical bar that clouds about 3-5% of the horizontal space from the right edge.
What's the cause?
