Buy as much processor as you can afford. Intel and AMD are pretty close in performance. Volumes have been written on both sides of this arguement and depending on your POV, you can make the case either way. The next fellow who sees your question and my remark will say I'm nuts, that any fool knows XYZ processors are the best ... well ok, we all know about opinions.

Best thing for you to do is find a computer that does what you want to do and if available to upgrade, get the "best" processor the manufacturer offers for the machine you choose.

Thanks for using FixYa.com

I hope you have found value in these remarks

Your motherboard has the follwing memory support : DDR2 533/400 SDRAM 2 slots, Single-channel (2GB2 Max). As long as it is supported by your motherboard there would be no problem since your processor is also supported by the motherboard.

Please refer to the follwoing links from Intel:

I have a Question for upgrading my machine. I havent had the chance to dabble with Dual-Processors.... This will be my first time. Q: Is it possible to utilize a Xeon 2.66GHz x3330 Processor and a Pentium...

You can only mix the same family processors with different stepping and speed. Pentium D is not in the same family as a Xeon. So no, you can not. For as long as the processors are in the same family, you can mix dual core with quad core and even different speed.

Pc Chips P23G wont reconize my new p4 core 2 duo

The PC Chips P23G versions 1.0A & 3.0 will not support any current generation Core2Duo, Core2Quad or Pentium Dual-Core processors. Only some of the first generation (Conroe Core) Core2Duo processors which run @ 1066mhz bus and some Pentium D (presler core) processors which run @ 800mhz bus.are supported. Not even most current BIOS will add support for any current processors. Check the pcchips website for CPU compatibility for the P23G..
