Hi, If I'm reading correctly, that scanner is listed as a 30 channel scanner only. You can pick freq's from 10 different bands. Here's just some of the features listed, hope this answered your question.
Mechanic
FEATURES:

  • Clock/Alarm - Large backlit LCD displays time and features "any button" snooze.
  • 30 Channels - You can program each of these memory channels to store one frequency.
  • 10 Bands - Including all public service bands, 4 "HAM" bands, federal and military land mobile bands.
  • Weather Scan - Automatically scans all national weather service frequencies.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Different police departments use different frequencies. You need to be a little more specific when asking a question on the World Wide Web.

How do I program an 8 digit frequency into the scanner when only allows me to enter 7?

Just forget the 8th digit. If it's a zero it's meaningless (last digit zero never needs to be programmed). If it's anything else the scanner will still pull in the signal without the last digit.

The operating manual for the BC142XLT is on my "impossible to find" list, but scanners in the 14x series are nearly identical in programming and operation, so this manual will walk you through the programming steps

Is it possible to put in 8digit numbers in? Such as: 458.66250

No. Your scanner is limited to seven digits on both programming and display, and that's adequate for the bands that it covers. In the example you give, the final zero is a null - it adds nothing to the freq.
