It seems that you have been relying on Safari's network diagnostics utility to do the network configuration. (It becomes available via a button in Safari's window when something goes wrong.)
And it seems from what you have told us that this program doesn't know about WPA.

Instead, try opening "System Preferences", then going into the Network preferences section, and configuring your network from there. (right side of menubar) - you can choose from the drop-down menu there to indicate that the network uses WPA and it will ask for password etc.

But see also this Apple doc on WPA:

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

It appears to be asking for the WIFI password. wpa/wpa2 psk are encryption protocols. In order to connect you need the shared network password.

Adaptor won't recognize wpa2 network

As per its user manual (p 2-1)
it only supports WPA, not WPA2

So either reduce the wireless network security to WPA/PSK, or get another adapter that supports WPA2

Or, If it's a version 2 in hardware, you could download the latest driver V2 that added the WPA2 support

Good luck

Cant get service to my lap top from my d link router router will not recognize my passwords and I have tried changing them but that doesn't work

The problem may occur if you are not using the same encryption standard on both the laptop and the router. Entering the same password won't help if they are not using the same standard.

Make sure you are using either WEP or WPA-PSK on both. WPA-PSK is the more advanced standard. If either your router or laptop is older, it may not support WPA-PSK. If that's the case, use WEP on both.

Hope that helps.

HELP!!!!!! Trying to enable wpa-psk security on my laptop?

You should set the security on your computer wifi card to wpa-psk and then type in the securitycode which is written in your Zyxel Router.
If this is not possible with your networkcard, change to wpa or wpa2 inside the Zyxel. And do the same procedure with your networkcard, when detected the Router.
