If your LG SecurDisc 20x Internal Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Super Multi Drive
w/LightScribe does not read disc, burn cds or dvd, then it means there is a problem with the lens of the LG SecurDisc 20x Internal Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Super Multi Drive
You will have to replace the LG SecurDisc 20x Internal Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Super Multi Drive
w/LightScribe or have the lens replaced.
Be sure not to use the LG SecurDisc 20x Internal Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Super Multi Drive
w/LightScribe to watch movies as that weakens the lens easily.
the combo drive you listed above is a cd-rw/ DVD-ROM....meaning that it will play and burn cd, cd-r, and cd-rw disks. the dvd rom will only be able to play dvd-rom and dvd-r disks providing they are in the proper format. check that the disk in question is not a dvd-rw or (+2) disk. the drive will not recognize that a disk is in the drive if the disk isnt compatable. try a dvd movie, if that works then a dvd-r, if that works then try a dvd-rw +1. if the last option doesnt work then you will have to stick with the dvd-rom and dvd-r, or purchase a dvd-rw drive to install.
Chek wtat is written on front panel
If it DVD-RW it can record only DVD-R blank, if it + so only +R
or DVD-RAM. If it is DVD +/- RW or RAM it can record any disk.
Also chek the speed for you DVD and disk you using.
If you dvd maximum speed for recording is for example 2.7, 4, 8 you should use only DVD with max speed 2.7, 4, 8 or 1-8, 1-16 etc. So they should be labeled the same as you DVD
Check that the writable DVDs you are using are compatible (+/-) with your LG DVD-RAM. Go to Windows Explorer and check to see if the Sony drive is visible. It may not be connected or the Jumper switch may be set incorrectly. Check you have drivers installed, take a look in Hardware manager. Sometimes, it's a little difficult to copy CDs and DVDs when you have more than one burning suite installed - for some reason, they 'just don't get along'. Try uninstalling any suites other than Nero. Or it may just be that your LG CD-RW drive is just that, and your DVD-RW drive is just that. So it wouldn't be possible to write DVDs on the CD-RW and CDs on the DVD-RW? Though I would assume Nero would detect that and use your hard-drive as temporary storage. In Nero SmartStart, have you selected the CD or DVD tab to correspond to the project you're burning?
