Re: Screen resolutio/brightness

Are you running on battery power or AC power? Some laptops are set up so that they will be dim on battery power.

Your battery could be going south on you.

The other possibility is that either your CCFL or inverter (most likely your CCFL lamp) is failing. They can be replaced for pretty cheap (part is about $5 to $10). The labor is a bit tricky but can be done if you are careful.

Restore my emachines w3507 back to factory settings how do i do it

Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. To perform a system restore, follow these steps: 1.Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK. 2.On the General tab, click Launch System Restore. 3.Select Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next. 4.Calendar dates in bold are possible restore points. Click the most recent one to view system restore information. 5.Select a system checkpoint or an installation restore point, and then click Next. 6.Close all other programs. 7.To start the system restore, click Next. 8.Your computer restarts. Repeat steps 1 through 8 until you fix your configuration issue.

It is possible for the Windows operating system on your eMachines computer to have a critical failure. If the operating system on your eMachines computer is failing, you can use your recovery discs to restore your computer. Recovery discs come with your purchase of an eMachine, and contain your operating system and all your basic drivers. You can recover your eMachines W series in about an hour.

Turn off your computer and press "F8" to enter the BIOS menu. Tab over to the "Boot Sequence" or "Boot Order" menu. Move your optical drive to the top of the list. Press "F11" to exit and save changes. Insert your recovery disc into your optical drive, then restart your computer. Press any key to boot from disc. Select the "Full Recovery" option from your recovery disc menu. Allow the recovery procedure to complete. Hope this helps.

Fan works randomly....when it's not working plug

Hi, If the computer is hot near the electrical plug in the back of the computer then the power supply needs to be replaced. This will also cause overheating problems if the fan does not exhaust enough air. You should not run the computer in this condition because the power supply can short out and take other components with it. Also there is a risk that it will burn up. Power supplies are very inexpensive and can be changed by anyone with basic computer repair knowledge. Hank

The power turns on for the emachine T4892 and the windows sysmbol comes on for a second then screen is blank nothing I cant do anything on the computer its like frozen in time and my programs are in...

Sounds like the boot sequence for Windows is corrupt. If it has been slowing down over time it may be that on recent shut downs it has failed to write the correct start up sequence.

I would suggest trying to get someone to remove your harddrive and back up your files, before reinstalling Windows from scratch.

Pc keeps randomly powering off & then back on. Won't stop until I unplug it.Holding down power button won't shut it off. On occasion it will stay on - is able to boot & be used normally while it...

Power supplies usually are culprits in random shut downs, but random start ups is a bit more complicated. You say that when you hold the power button, the computer won't power down. Perhaps you have a faulty switch? Make sure your PW switch cable is securely attached to the motherboard. But I'm leaning more toward a faulty switch or a short in the wires. Seems like a good place to start.
