The QL300 has a range of 20,000 to 30,000 btus. That shouldn't be too big for your 300 square foot room with high ceilings and a loft. It has a thermostat, so it will shut off when the room gets warm. 1 pound of propane contains about 21,000 btus, so you will be burning 1 to 1.5 pounds each hour that the stove is running.

The pilot on my Procom QL300TYLA will not light. It appears that no propane is getting to the pilot. I tried lighting the pilot and burner with a BBQ lighter but nothing. No propane getting to the unit....

sounds like you have a blocked pilot injector. normally part of the pilot head. if you can remove it , blow it out with compressed air but it must be removed from the pilot head. commonly known as a Pilot restrictor,Pilot spud or Pilot injector

Remove it and take it to a good hardware store that sells gas heaters. You can also look up on the net at houseneeds.com and other sites specializing in repair parts.

My propane heater not working right

This could be due to insufficient gas pressure. When you turn the knob to get the flames going, observe the pilot light. If it gets smaller, or burns with less intensity, it means you have insufficient gas pressure. If the pilot light gets smaller, the temperature of the thermocouple drops, so the electrical current produced by the thermocouple also drops. The stove interprets this drop in voltage to mean that the oxygen level in the room has dropped (because a drop in oxygen content likewise would cause the pilot light to get smaller).

Combustion fumes

The professionals at Pro-Flame in Colton, California, told me it was probably the residue that builds up in the bottom of a propane tank over a number of years of use. They asked me when my tank was last tested and certified for safety. Since I couldn't remember, they suggested I bring it in for them to empty and certify next time I needed to refill. They did, charged me about $30, certified it as safe, and I haven't had that odor since.

Just turns off?

From my memory, this is an unvented model. The ODS could be bad and turning off the unit or you could be experiencing a bad thermocouple. If there is any way to temporarly bypass the ODS, I would try this first. Do not run this unit unattended. If the unit stays on when the ODS is bypassed, you found your problem. If not, change out the thermocouple. It is a small diameter copper probe that goes from the gas valve up to the pilot light. Good Luck.
