The Magnavox DVD has Cb/Pb, Cr/Pr, Y, Video Out, Audio Out L and R, and Digtal Audio Out Coaxial. I connect to Video Out and Audio Out R. The Memorex TV has Video Out and In and Audio Out and In. I connect to Video In and Audio In. How do I switch between TV and DVD? Thank you.

When playing a DVD, my Bose 3-2-1 DVD player's picture is not connecting to my Vizio Smart TV, only the sound.

  1. Make sure the video cables are properly connected. The cables that connect the DVD player to the TV should be securely plugged into the correct ports on each device. Double-check that the cables are not loose or damaged.
  2. Check the input source on your TV. Make sure the TV is set to the correct input source that the DVD player is connected to. For example, if the DVD player is connected to HDMI 1, then the TV should be set to HDMI 1 as well.
  3. Check the TV's settings. Some TVs have a "picture in picture" or "picture by picture" feature that may be turned on, preventing the main picture from showing.
  4. Check the DVD player's settings. Some DVD players have a setting that controls the aspect ratio of the picture. Make sure this is set correctly for your TV.
  5. Check the TV and DVD player compatibility. Some TV's are not compatible with older DVD players and this could be the reason for the lack of picture.

How to connect a dvd player to a tv set

Connect the incoming antenna to the DVD player (look for connections on the back of the DVD player for Antenna In). Then connect the Dvd player to the Tv. Use the "out" connections on the back of the DVD player and the "in" connections on the back of the tv. You can use RCA jacks to connect the DVD to the tv, or any other type of connection available. Once the DVD player is connected to the tv, you need to set the incoming source on the television. Click on the source button until you find the one that has a clear picture. Dvd connections are usually listed as "aux 1 or 2" on the tv source choices. You will know when you choose the right one because the picture will come in on the tv.

Hope this helps?

My philips dvd player has stopped playing CD's and DVD's and on the display screen it shows "root". i have had this DVD player for 16months. Can you help me?? cheers

Usually "ROOT" is an indication that the player has read the DVD.

ROOT means that the DVD is in the main menu screen.

Sounds like the DVD player is ok, but you may have a loose connection somewhere.

Check all of your AV connections between the TV and DVD.

Also make sure that the TV is set to the same AV channel as the connection you are using.
E.G. if you have connected the DVD to the AV 1 socket of the TV, make sure that the TV is set to channel AV 1.

Setting up DVD/VCR

Depends how you have connected to the TV.

You will need to set your TV to the relevant socket you have connected the DVD/VCR into.

S-Video, Component , composite etc

These will be EXT 1 , EXT 2 or AV 1, AV 2 etc.

Disk won't load

I would verify that connections between the DVD player and the TV; then go into your DVD’s control panel and re-set to original factory settings. I would also make sure that your TV’s settings are set to the correct connection settings as well.
It would also be nice if you included the make, and model of the DVD player and which connections are you using to connect to the TV.
