Sounds like the chopper is plugged or broken. remove the lower spray arm by holding tab with a set of plyers and turn spray arm counter clockwise. then where the middle spray arm attaches at the back of tub remove screw. turn the housing on pump to the right side of the machine( its easier to pull top rack out a bit so that whole housing can move) it will turn a little bit to be released from top of pump. then take out the torx screws that hold the housing and filter on. in the sump there will be one or two more smaller torx screws remove those and remove coverings to the chopper. check to see if the mesh is plugged with food and other things. clean. also check to see if blade turn with the motor impeller. if not then the chopper needs to be replaced. good luck

Why is the top spray arm not turning

All of the water coming to the upper spray arm comes through the feed tube. If the feed tube is blocked or the probe flapper is hung open, water will not flow properly to the upper spray arm. Be sure that when you push in the upper rack the manifold probe is in position in the feed tube. Try adding more water in the tub to see if the upper spray arm starts rotating. Other possibilities; low water charge, cracked spray arm & poor wash pump performance.

Upper spray arm

Hello Alan - Will the spray arm rotate freely or is it damaged? If so, you might have to remove and replace the spray arm assemblies. The top spray arm typically starts to function when the unit is in rinse or wash cycle. If for some reason the top rack is not getting clean, there is a possibility that it is not working properly. The top spray arm is either blocked by pots/pans or not enough water pressure is being pump meaning that the flow of water is not making it to the upper spray arm. If you tap the delivery tube that feeds this nozzle and the water pressure jumps immediately, then the problem may lie with a faulty pump or impeller. Should all basic troubleshooting measures fail contact a certified technician to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause.

Upper spray arm on my Kitchen Aid dishwasher (8573025) doesn't work.

Arm operates(turns) by water pressure. If it does not turn no water is going to the top spray arm. make sure the setting washer is on does not preclude the top spray arm from operating(read manual). If not check arm by spinning by hand to make sure it is free. If arm is free and it still does not turn when DW is running than there is a restriction in the tubing to the upper spray arm or the check ball or solenoid are not operating correctly.

Top rack not cleaning dishes. model # FDB1050RES2

Hello, check the sprayer arm on the top of the dishwasher inside and to see if it spins. Don't block this spray arm with glasses or dishes that could block the operation of this sprayer cleaning arm.

Now, if it not spinning, check out the fitting arount hing bolt. If this wore out then you will have water pressure lose. Replace if need be. Also, check the feeder water spout that runs the upper spray army, it could be pluged. GB...stewbsion

Hello, Im trying to diagnose poor cleaning of glasses in the top rack of my Fridigaire FDB751SCB0. everything seems to work fine but while testing I noticed the upper arm isn't spinning. the lower arm...

Hello; first thing to check, which you don't mention, is which side of the glasses aren't coming clean; the outside, which would be caused by the TOP spray not working properly, or the INSIDE, which would be caused by the spray BELOW the top rack not working. The most common problem causing a spray arm not to turn, and/or poor cleaning, is debris blocking some or all of the spray holes in the arm. Best and easiest way to check them is to remove them; they usually are easily removed with a large wing nut or screw in the center. (Don't drop the screw, if you do it will ALWAYS find it's way to the hardest spot to retrieve it from in the whole dishwasher!)
Once you have the spray arm(s) out (this might be a good time to clean them all) you may notice pieces of debris partially protruding from the spray holes. DON'T pull them out; use something to push them back inside the spray arm. Pulling them out can enlarge and mis-shape the spray holes.
Dislodge any pieces inside the arm by firmly rapping it against a firm but padded object, and shake the debris out over the sink, catching it in a paper towel so it won't go down the drain. Be careful, as broken glass is often inside the spray arms, picked off the bottom of the tub and fed through the pump to the sprays.
Once you don't get any rattling inside after several "raps" on the padded object, the arm should be clean.
Cleaning these spray arms periodically is a good idea even before you have trouble.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Top rack does not wash dishes.

Possible causes of spray arm inefficiency:
Loading large or tall items in the lower basket which stops the arm revolving.
Upper spray arm split along seam.
Upper spray arm blocked.
Under dosing of powder causing foam and reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
Blocked strainers reducing water to circulating pump, therefore reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
inefficient wash motor impellor (faulty)

Spray arms clogged

Top: Remove the upper tray by releasing the clips on the ends of the runners. (Squeeze the top of the clip and pull upwards). Remove the spray arm by holding the round plastic clip that holds the arm and turning the arm. It will unscrew.

Bottom: Grab spray arm in centre and pull sharply upwards to unclip.

Wash in warm water and solvent-free detergent.

Top arm not spinning

only the top rack isnt getting clean?
there is a little plastic circle in the middle of the bottom of the upper spray arm. turn it counter clock wise to pull the upper spray arm from the upper rack. make sure that isnt clogged and the spray holes are not clogged. otherwise....

the piece that the bottem spray arm plugs into and runs along the back wall of the tank to the top is called a feed tube. pull the bottom spray arm out. now you can see the part of the feed tube that feeds the upper spray arm water. does it pop out freely and easily? if so then you need a new feed tube, if not then its most likely your not achieving the right water level or your impeller connected to your circulation pump(motor) is clogged not supplying enough water pressure to travel up the feed tube to spin the upper spray arm.
