Re: WIFi Connection

Change channels to 1-6-or 11

check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."

You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection1.gif Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.

This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.

Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.

Cordless phones1.gif and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies. As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phones in the area and see if it helps.

I have a wifi connection but I can not access IE

It's possible that your router has no internet connection with your modem (even though you can still see the wifi, but it does not matter). I would first shutdown the router and modem for 10 seconds.

1. Turn on the Modem first, wait 30 seconds, turn on the router, wait another minute. Try to connect again.

2. If sill does not work, you must reset your router (press and hold a paperclip towards a tiny hole on the back of the router for 1 minute), this will bring your router to manufacturer's condition. As you do that, you can start fresh procedure number 1 again.

I have lost connection to the internet on my computer. My ICON at the bottom right corner says I have good signal strength connection, but I can not connect. I have connected via hard wire land line but...

If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS, .and I am assuming you DO have a wireless router all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ....first we have to determine if the problem is at the router or at the laptop AND at what point its getting stuck ... so first try this

try resetting the router (unplug for a few minutes) try --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---try---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)

If this was helpful, please indicate so, if not -comment back so we can dig further to resolve this.

Lost wifi on laptop after 2 weeeks

On some laptops, there is a wi-fi switch that is located on the sides of the laptop. Sometimes on the Keyboard itself. If you do not have one, the problem is in the internet connection you are using. Let me know if this helps. Best of luck

Outlook and IE can't find WiFi connection. I can connect to a wireless network, but I can't get IE or MS Outlook download from it.

First of all turn the wireless radio off on the laptop, then go to the modem and the wireless router and turn them off for 2 minutes.
Turn them back on and wait a further 2 minutes for them/it to reset.

Now go to your laptop and turn the wireless radio back on again, re-connect to the wireless signal and see if you can access the net. If you can then you should have no further problems retrieving your emails or accessing the internet.

Please feel free to post back if you need to.

Good luck.
