Question about Fine Digital FineDrive 400 GPS Receiver
Try using a power outlet in your car that turns on when you start the car and off when you stop. I find that the Finedrive works better when not turned off for long periods of time. I used it this week in this method and found the unit to respond / find the satellite signal within one minute or less. For some reason, when the unit is not used for awhile, it "forgets" where it is. This could also be attributed to the internal battery, but I am not privy as to whether using it regularly helps the memory/battery keep charged.

Both cases could be due to a dead memory battery. these have a very tiny button battery in them to keep some memory such as GPS position. if it dies then the GPS may take longer to get a fix and data such as your last position is gone each time you boot.
