It's taking hours to recharge and I still haven't any volume. It's strange because when I first bought it, the sound worked fine. I purchased it from Amazon so not certain what the reurn policy is on it yet but I am frustrated by it

The battery has 20 hours worth of charge. Seems all the other functions are working. Such as the blue lighting, wheel turns, pre-recorded music plays and volume works with that.....however the radio has no sound. The owners manual is basically worthless. Thanks for trying anyway.

Hello, i have problem with TA-709 headphones batteries, i need to know if is there any possible replacement,

You are correct about 1.5 volt not being shown as rechargeable. However that 1.2 should be enough. You need to be able to test those batteries or buy brand new alkaline ones.

Dirty volume control on headphones. Try moving the volume control back and forth several times to clean off the contacts.

Did swapping the batteries produce normal volume from the previously low volume radio?

It does seem like it is a battery problem. These days no household should be without a decent battery tester...

My Fuji Finepix S5800 tells me my brand new batteries are flat.

It sounds like you have bad batteries. I have had rechargeables that have suddenly done the same thing. I have learned that buying really cheap ones doesn't work out. If you buy a good branded set, I think you will find that they are much better. :)

Display says to change batteries..have done and still says to change batteries

Strange as this solution might sound,m it works; clean the battery contacts in the camera, as well as the battery itself with alcohol. Even a small bit of oxidation, at the current level the camera requires, drops quite a few mvolts, enough for the camera to think your battery is running low.

My battery will not recharge and the volume does not work

Portable batteries are consumable and have a expected lifespan of roughly 300 to 500 recharge/discharge cycles before replacement is required. If you are using the original battery, then most likely you need a new one. If battery is a new replacement and you have the same issue, flash the BIOS to most current, see if any change. If not change, and a new battery doesn't charge, then replace the motherboard.
You were not clear if this is a NO SOUND or just VOLUME IS LOW issue. For NO SOUND
  1. Open Volume Control, Ensure that sound is not muted.
  2. Control Panel, Sound and Volume controls. Ensure that the sound card is selected as the primary playback device.
  3. BIOS, ensure the Audio is Enabled.
  4. Download and reinstall the audio driver.
If you are just talking about the volume control displaying on screen, reinstall the quickset utility

Low Battery

Many Kodak brand cameras have this problem, and when I say many I mean almost all. The only solution is to try different types/brands of batteries until you find one that lasts.

The sound just stops dead

I have the exact same problem. Try to crank up the volume from your stereo/receiver and lower the volume in the headphones. I think that the headphones goes into standby mode if the volume is to low. Works for me (for two days, so its not really a fact yet ;-) )

Displays "low battery" always

I had exactly this problem and found the solution - I was using the wrong type of batteries.

You might be doing the same so what you need to do is check to see what mAh the batteries you're using. I was using Energizer rechargables with 1300mAh when the camera stopped working and switched to 2500mAh rechargables (on the advice of a friend) as a last desperate attempt to get it to work and it solved my problem. I got 2500mAh Energizer rechargables and would advise the same but you should go for batteries with at least 2100mAh.

I hope this helps some people :)
