Question about Denon AVR-3300 Receiver

Open Question

Denon AVR-3300 remote

My 3300 remote will not function... only the ON SOURCE & OFF buttons are functioning as of now. The problem is resent and started when I was attempting to integrate a HD DVR (DIRECT TV unit) into my system. I couldn't get the audio opt 1-3 on the FUNCTION selection for TV / DBS to work but manage to work it through FUNCTION selection for DVD on opt 1.

I tried every button on the unit and the remote at some point during this rather frustrating scenario. Did I lock the remote up and if so, how do I unlock?

SOURCE: Denon receiver AVR-3300: Unstable source selection

Very important you have run system set up menu it configures your receiver with inputs analog or digital, speaker size, input, room correction etc Different input modes can be selected for the different input sources.
The selected input modes for the separate input sources are stored in
the memory.
q AUTO (auto mode)
In this mode, the types of signals being input to the digital and
analog input jacks for the selected input source are detected and
the program in the AVR-3300’s surround decoder is selected
automatically upon playback. This mode can be selected for all
input sources other than PHONO, MD/TAPE and TUNER.
The presence or absence of digital signals is detected, the signals
input to the digital input jacks are identified and decoding and
playback are performed automatically in DTS, Dolby Digital or PCM
(2 channel stereo) format. If no digital signal is being input, the
analog input jacks are selected.
w PCM (exclusive PCM signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are only performed when PCM signals are
being input.
e DTS (exclusive DTS signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are only performed when DTS signals are
being input.
r ANALOG (exclusive analog audio signal playback mode)
The signals input to the analog input jacks are decoded and played.
t EXT. IN (external decoder input jack selection mode)
The signals being input to the external decoder input jacks are
played without passing through the surround circuitry Your remote is searching for inputs because you did not properly run system set up!!! Here is a link to your manual [PDF] AVR-3300/1 3.3E*

SOURCE: I just purchased a Sony

Your reciever has three digital optical inputs so, what it comes down to is how many thing do you want to hook up and what input/otput do you have on your TV. Best case scenario would be to hook your cable box directly to your TV Via HDMI out, if you have HD, on your cable box to Sat/cable input on your TV. Next best would be using componenet cables for video and digital optical for audio. Last would be RCA(yellow, white and red, from Cable box to TV input. Then, you would connect your TV to receiver via(best) digital optical, or RCA. You can try to patch the video through the reciever using component or RCA to TV/DBS on receiver then out to TV but. alot of times you will lose the video in the transfer and it uses more cables, thus more margiin for error. You would set your TV menu to cable/sat and your reciever to which ever input you choose.

Denon AVR-3200 wont go into standby mode

Not sure what you mean by standby mode. The power button on most of the audio remotes I deal with merely turns the equipment on and off.

How to access denon avr-3300 system setup

First make sure that your remote control is set to "Amp" as it can control many different devices.

Then make sure that you have connected the Monitor Out socket on the receiver to your TV.

Next make sure your TV is set to show the picture from the input you connected to the Denon monitor out.

Now press set-up button on the remote and the System Setup menu should appear on your TV.

If this helps then please rate my answer,

Many thanks,

Dear sir, The denon AVR 3300 receiver quits after playing a while; somtimes it quits after an hour, sometimes after 2 hours! Can you tell me how the sleep timer functions..... Thank you Cees van...

There is no sleep timer on the 3300. You are experiencing an "over heat" shut down. The 3300 is notorious for over heating at almost any volume level. It must be vented constantly with an external fan pulling air completely through the cabinet. Don't use it at all until you do this. The internal fan is week and will start to make noise from too much heat. Replacing the Denon fan will not solve this either. See my other posts about this issue.

No sound from new sony bravia to denon avr 1610

TV's are not your best source of audio. Get the TV-related audio digitally from the source, NOT the TV.
