I recently had the water pump replaced on my truck and today on my way to work the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. I watched the odometer closely and everything seemed to be fine during the trip to work. The truck was running the same as usual. I work from 7:00 - 5:00 every day as a teacher, commute 30 miles each way and do not have any other means of transportation. I need the truck to be okay until the weekend when i can get it checked out. What should i do?

Make sure you have the right amount of anti-freeze in it because sometime the sensor in the overflow bottle can cause the service engine soon light to come on wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

Very unlikely that those two things are related. if you can stop by an autozone they will scan the codes for free and tell you why the light is on.

Not related. The service engine soon lite is operated by the speedometer, so it's just coincidence that it came on soon after the water pump repair.

I would be concerned as the fix now may be simple (like checking the engine oil and water in the radiator (not the reservoir). check fan belts and condition of belts .or the remedy repair will be less costly. Ignore the warning and the budget will be blown

drop by autozone and they will scan the codes for free (at least the last time i heard it was free) the people there are fairly knowledgable so they should be able to tell you why the light is on.

sometime it's a one off that triggers the light. after three cycles of the key when it hasn't encountered the same problem it will go out.

Recently replace the serp. and PS pump. Service engine soon light is on and something is squeaking badly.
anything could set the service engine soon light,,but the noise,,,did you bleed the power steering pump?if not turn car off turn wheel fully left and fully right about 30 times then check fluid level and top it off,then start car and do 30 times with car on see if noise goes away,,,,maybe you got something on the belt to make it wet and noisy?

The service engine soon light, you need to have the computer put on a scanner and find out whats wrong. A lot of part stores will put your car on a computer for free, and tell you whats wrong. then its up to you to replace or fix whats wrong.

the service engine soon lite comes on due to an input sensor to your vehicles computer that has gone out of its parameters. this lite does not come on due to mileage. the computer needs to be scanned for code #'s in order to diagnose correctly. autozone will scan codes for free. if you get me the code #, ill try to assist further, otherwise you may want to see your local garage.

Car dies periodically
The crank sensors for that car isn't that spendy at all. Being coolant and water had been dripping on the sensor, the electrical part of the magnetic pickup may have been damaged. Replace the crank sensor and all should be fine again.
