Power just 'clicks' doesn't turn on.

I have a Hoover Central Vac system. It was working fine up until a week ago. When I went to use it, it wouldn't turn on. It is plugged in and has been tested by an electrician and all is good. It just makes a 'clicking' sound when it is turned on or off. Is this a burned out motor or possibly something else?
Thanks

The motor could be burned out or you have a carbon brush in the motor that is stuck. The motor will need to be taken out and tested on its' own. A electric motor company can test it for you or a Vacuum Shop.

I have a hoover steam vac F5915-900 I bought at walmart about 4 months ago. I used it about 5 times in differnet rooms. Today when I went to use it It won;t pick up the dirty water. I cleaned the filter...

Make sure the suction area of the face plate is clear of all debris. If anything else, call the number on the machine, it's still under warrantee if the machine doesn't work from normal use.

Low suction

I suspect the hoses are plugged with debris.

Central Vac will not turn on.

These problems are nearly exclusively caused by a bad circut board and replacing it is the fix. Bad boards can cause many different effects so its nearly impossible to be sure. The 9v signal wire is not enough to short out an entire unit so it is unlikely the hose. If it is a direct connect system and you are pulling power from the 110 somehow that would cause main unit problems but that is unlikely at best. Sounds like a failed board to me.

NuTone Central vac won't turn off

If the central vacuum tank will not turn OFF even with the switch in the “OFF” position, then the low-voltage wires should be disconnected from the tank. If the tank continues to run and still will not turn off, then most likely the relay inside is defective (but it could be a defective and/or shorted ON/OFF switch). If with the low-voltage wires disconnected the tank is able to then be turned off with the switch, then there is a short in the low-voltage wires or a hose is plugged into an inlet somewhere. ~ TTURAMBAR

Electrolux Central Vac - very hot where tube attaches to handle

Hello randpmarion,
Because you said you had intermittent power and the area where the wire is got very hot, there is a high probability that you have a poor electrical connection inside the handle. Left unrepaired, it could pose an electrical hazard or fire hazard to you. If you unplug it and can disassemble the arm, look for evidence of carbon or arc damage near where you felt the high temp but I would not use it as is until it is repaired or replaced,

Central Vac does not shut off

Sounds like the relay that is in the central vac unit is stuck to the ON position. When you plug it back in..does it start right up ? If so.. You should be able to disconnect all the receptacle feeds to the central vac unit at the central vac unit to determine which one ( if any) is calling for the vac to stay on.. if none are.. then it is internal to the vac and may be a stuck relay... Hope that gives you some ideas to check...

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me like you have multiple problems with your power drive; a burning smell and the brushes don’t turn, and the dop is on March, 2008 – the Hoover Steam Vac Shampooer has a one year factory warranty and it could be a broken part for the brushes won’t turn or a belt would cause the burning smell. If it is not the belt or broken part it probably is the motor of which you should take it to a authorized Hoover vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to contact the Hoover factory cust serv listed below or the Hoover website for information. If it is the motor the factory authorized dealer will replace the part for the motor and the broken part for the brushes, if it is the belt that would be an out of pocket expense. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Central vac (Hoover) always on!

There should be a manual/auto switch. If it is in the manual mode, then it will run all the time. Other then that you probably have a stuck relay. But this will have a years warranty on it, so you should be able to have it serviced under warranty.
