Can't turn on speakers on my monitor x2gen
SOURCE: X2Gen Monitor speakers not working
This sounds like a straight hardware issue. However, to be certain, try to attach another monitor to this PC, and if it works properly, you will know that there is nothing wrong with the graphics card/driver or other related component of the PC involved. (Also make sure you are using the proper type of cable - analog/digital - for the connection.) Also suggest switching out cables to eliminate that. Further, you could try to see if the monitor functions properly when attached to another machine. If the machine is not functional and another is, that will confirm that the issue is hardware-based.
Unfortunately, X2Gen has declared bankruptcy (see http://x2gen.com/) and there is no way to go back to the manufacturer for either support or warranty service. If you are still within a given time frame with either the retailer, or perhaps through a credit card company, this would be your best recourse. Here is the link to the form via which you could file a bankruptcy claim: http://www.x2gen.com/files/Claim.pdf. Hope this may help, if you can't get reimbursed through some other means.
My experience with this type of issue is that the hardware has gone bad. Particularly with the nature of your problem, it seems that it is not a minor problem, and does not appear to involve drivers or other software-type fixes. If you could get a professional tech to repair it, the cost would most likely be more than replacement of the monitor. Sorry for the bad news, but I don't think there is a better solution.
If the monitor continues to behave in the same manner, I think that is absolute confirmation that you have a "nonnegotiable" hardware issue. If not - in other words, if you see something different with switch of connections/machines, there could be a graphics card/driver or other issue that we could work on further.
Please post back if you need additional assistance, or this does not answer all your questions. Otherwise, thanks for using and rating FixYa!
