Mini-SD card corruption?

I have the Sprint PCS CDMA Touch.

Only recently did this happen. I have a 2gb Patriot Mini-SD card. One day I noticed that all of my folders and files on the card were gone and all that was left were some folders with gibberish names. Furthermore, any programs and program links relating to software installed to the card were not working. My backup file wasn't touched so I did a quick restore and all was fine. This happened a second time recently and now the backup file is gone (learned my lesson: put a copy of the backup on my PC as well) with the same "gibberish" folders and files in place. Later in the evening I downloaded Picsel Browser directly to the card and later went to install it, only to find that everything that had disappeared and re-appeared (the "gibberish folders and files remained-one even has a date of 9/27/95!). So I felt all was well. The next morning I noticed that everything was gone again, except for the IE temporary items, WMDRM, cookies, history folders. What's really weird is I would check in on the card and notice duplicates of these folders (not the "gibberish" ones) and immediately later the duplicates are gone. I've tried a few different things to no avail, including I've even made sure that my mail attachments and IE temporary files are saved to the device and not on the card. I removed the IE temporary files folder on the card, as well. I've done resets, removing and putting back in the card, reformatting the card and putting my stuff back in, etc. Same results.

I believe all of my original folders and files are STILL on the card but something is causing issues with it being read like it's supposed to be. I use both the native file explorer as well as Total Commander and ActiveSync/Windows XP shell explorer to look in on the card.

Nothing on the device itself is affected. I've posted this problem on a couple of PPC phone forums but haven't seen much of anything in the way of potential solutions. One person suggested that it's a WRITE problem. I haven't added much of anything lately. The only thing I noticed that the problem occurred after I started playing with Windows Live Mobile (admittedly, while the battery was in low level warning status). I did remove the WLM cache folder from the card and set WLM to place its cache on the device, but to no avail. This is either a power-to-the-card-slot problem or a read/write issue.

I have taken photo's on my SD card and when I have come to alter thier orientation or lighten them they have become corrupt. Thumbnails look OK but when you open the image there is only half of the image there.

Could anyone please advise me what to do next

Interesting question, Here4you. I'm not sure. Wondering how I'd go about finding that out. It's a Patriot brand card. Is the thought behind the voltage rating that if it's a 5 volt card and the slot is 3 volt you MAY or MAY NOT have issues with data transfers? Or vice-versa? Also, I'm wondering if this would be in conjunction with low power states in the PPC as well?

I recently ordered a 4gb SDHC card so we'll see what happens with it.

However, thus far, I haven't had any recurrences of the issue...yet.

Is that a 3 V or a 5 Volt SD card?

Its hard to find a 5 v card anymore ... but you can get anything on Ebay. The 3 V work with anything... but the 5v can fail in newer devices. There are a couple of reasons for this but I'll explain the obvious one.
Signals on a bus to the eye look like square waves ... but as a practical matter there is always a transition time when a bit changes from a 1 to 0 (i.e. 5v to 0 Volts. changing the voltage is like changing a pump pressure from 0lbs to 100 lbs. It simply isn't possible to do it in zero time.
The 3 volt cards have a speed advantage simply because for any given chang rate it takes less time to go from zero to 3 than from zero to 5.

The second reason I ask is that 5V cards are tested only down to (4.5? I seem to remember) ... when running a 5VDC card at 3VDC you are flirting with production variances may work one may not , but we're sure none were tested.

    Good luck!

I had the same thing happen after downloading windows live.

How do you could information on to sim card on the model sprint lg

Sprint doesn't have a sim card as its on a CDMA network, I think you mean an SD card. From the phone you should be able to save it to the SD card, or you could plug it into a PC with an adaptor

How do I flash a sprint Samsung galaxy s2 for metro use

I think what you mean is that you want o unlock it. This a CDMA phone, but there is also an S2 Sprint model which have a min-SIM card (the Samsung SPH-D710). But then again I'm not sure that it can be unlock. One way would be to contact Sprint, they will ask you for an ESN (located under the battery). To flash any firmware you need the firmware and Odin, this is a tool to flash firmware to Samsung devices. But that won't unlock your device.
I recommend that if possible, visit a Metro PCS store or Kiosk, maybe they can sell you a mini-SIM card and unlock it for you. Metro PCS use CDMA technology as Sprint and Verizon, but Metro PCS is now accepting GSM phones. Best of luck.

Installing a 2GB PNY Micro SD Card

Only the Sprint version of this phone supports memory cards over 1 Gigabyte. Sorry. But if you have a Sprint phone comment back to me using the comment box below. Thanks.

If you don't have a Sprint phone you need to acquire a 1GB card and use that. Hold on to your 2GB card as it will be usable when you upgrade at the end of your contract period.
