Nepyune Tl FAV6800AWW Spin error uC

When it gets to the spin cycle it falshes this error code. We had this problem before and they replace a part and said something was blocking it to drain. I believe it was my sons school ID. Is this something that I can do and how do I get the front cover off? Thank you in advance.

    The error code is uC

  • Smooth1971 Jan 17, 2008

Catriver, I got the top open and removed the tumbler and found the student ID and some change. Could there be more change in another area that could cause it to block the pump? If so how do I get to the pump? Thanks again for your help.

How do you remove the tumblers?

  • borgescustom Sep 08, 2008

I am not sure how to get the drum open to see if there is something caught, causing it not to drain and to be making a grinding noise. If i could get the spiners inside the machine off I could check to see if something was in there. Does anybody know how to do this???

We have the same problem with the machine not draining and will not go into the final spin and flashes a "dc" code on the display. We have had the local repair guy come in and he replaced a $200 circuit board and it still has the same problem.

Smooth, what error code are you getting? to open the front panel, take a puddy knife on each end between the top and front panel. Push on the clips and lift the top up. Then there will be 2 screws on the inside, each side. Remove them and the front panel will tilt down and lift off.

Hi Ktraysby posted date 1/5/09

This model “FAV6800AW” is famous for DC/UC codes related to dry clutch needle bearings. This could be the problem. If you are handy and want to trouble shoot this issue get the service repair manual at

I found this manual link on this forum.  You can force the drain pump on to emptying the tube with this procedure posted by another member at a repair forum not sure which one. This process is in the repair manual under “”Board Output Test and perform Drain Pump test.””.

“One other thing I learned for those of you who don’t want to bail out the water in the tub. If you want to have the machine drain the excess water without bailing this should work. Turn the machine off and make sure the "locked door" light goes off. Then hold the "Spin" and "Enviro Plus" buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. "00" should then show up on the display. Then hit the "Delicate" button, then the “Pre-soak” button. This should activate the pump and get all the water out. Once the water is out hit the off button. You then may want to try the Spin cycle alone. These directions can be found on the Troubleshooting Manual found folded up behind the rear panel of the machine where the main electrical circuit board is located.”

This machine is repairable if you have basic mech/electrical skill sets. This was my issue I have posted many times on this forum.

“”I just did a repair on my FAV6800AAW by lubricating the needle bearings in the clutch pulley hub, the tub displacement sensor checked OK per the service manual check. I was getting dc/uc errors in the spin cycle, washer was purchased in 7/05. I have basic mechanical skills and used a socket wrench to remove clutch pulley, just follow the service manual removal steps to remove the clutch pulley. Pull the plastic cover off the clutch pulley and inspect the spring, clean/lube needle bearings and the clutch hub coupler that drives spinner shaft. I used WD40 I may need to re-lube down the road with a good light grease. It took a few tries for me to get the clutch pulley to stay on after re-install and power up, getting the clutch pulley seated properly is the trick. I did not remove the washer tub for this fix, I believe I saw a posting where someone did. I just leaned the washer back to get a better reach angle, it is a tight work area. I did not want to junk 4 yr old $1k machine with out trying a fix. If you want to work on this model get the service manual, I found a link on this site, good luck!””

Found a lot of information on this website fixya... really helped me..same machine may tag neptune tl fav6800awq just different color...first rinse would empty, second rinse, would leave water in tub going into spin cycle, would alarm out with UC code, leaving water in tub, was a clutch problem dry needle bearings, which happen to be oneway bearings, clean off old grease. very lightly coat upper and lower clutch needle bearing with bearing grease and sleeve, very fine film of grease, bearings need to grip sleeve in one direction, locks against sleeve, to much grease will hinder that, that being said also check the spring inside the clutch pulley, spring had broke in mine, if you have the time and skill, you can rebend spring wrapping around a 180 thousands drill it. I had done it and it worked, also, make sure the tub displacement censor slide did not come apart, slide can pull apart with severe out of balance, so I had three things going on with my washer, dry needle bearings, broken clutch spring, and a tub displacement censor that had pulled apart...all good thanks to this site, and cost me nothing in cash, but 6 hours of reading, down loading manual, about an hour and half to remove and install clutch and bend spring.

I have the same problem with the uc code. I am grateful for this sight and the information regarding opening the top and front. Exactly what do I look for when attempting to determine whether or not the drain is blocked.
Thanks for any info.

What's the purpose of the tub displacement sensor

To detect excessive wash tub movement and shut down the wash cycle. Here is a copy of my post from a real DIY forum;

Google this Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW 5 post down.

Here ya this post I discuss the issue related to unbalance error codes DC and UC;

Your FAV6800A or FAV9800A is going off balance with DC or UC unbalance error codes during spin cycle and you see/hear the wash tub banging around at the start of Spin Cycle of the wash cycle or a Spin Only cycle. If this is the condition the TDS (Tub Displacement Sensor) is working as designed and signaling the Control Board properly of an unbalance wash load condition.

The Control Board receives a varying D.C . Voltage from the TDS sensor and if the out of range D.C. Voltage limit continues the Control Board will halt the Spin Cycle and try to redistribute the wash load. If you are interested I will show you how to monitor the TDS input to the Control Board with a DVM.

The Control Board then starts the Spin Cycle again. If the wash tub/basket out of balance condition continues the Control Board will attempt another redistribute of the wash load. After several attempts (4 to 5 I believe) the Control Board will shut down the Spin Cycle and send a error code DC or UC to the LED display of the FAV6800A, my machine type. And I believe a text statement to the LCD screen of the FAV9800A machine i.e. something like "Unbalance Condition" I'm not sure what the text message is.

If you need help open a post in that repair forum and I will try help you through your issue.
The forum is free and my time is free I just don

Code LL flashing. Will not complete a cycle.

The LL error code is not documented very well.

Can you tell me what point of the Wash Cycle the Cycle Status LED is in when you error out with the LL error code?

I believe it will be in the Spin Cycle of the wash cycle.

You could try a Quick Spin test and see if the wash basket will spin up to 850 RPM with no laundry in the Wash Basket. See Page 14 of the Service Manual and see if the Wash Basket will spin up to 850 RPM.

You could also check the TDS for proper range of motion using the SM or this typed out process.
Tub Displacement Sensor Diagnostics check.
It is possible the Tub Displacement Sensor may have failed try this check which is in the Troubleshooting guide stored in your washer console or refer to the SM.

a. Enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

b. Press the Super Wash key display reads “in”…something like that.

c. Press Delicates the Display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).

d. Push tub to the back right corner of the machine the display should change to “UO” (Unbalance open). Release tub and the display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).

e. Press Hand Wash.

f. Pull tub to the front left corner while pushing the tub down the display should change to “UO” (Unbalance open). Release tub and the display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).

If you fail this test it would be time to remove the machine front cover check if the TDS sensor has fallen of its mounting position between the Tub and the washer frame.

Maytag FAV6800AWW TL washer is throwing error code uC even when running empty cycle. It sounds like there may be a bearing going bad as it is more noisy than it should be when spinning. It stopped at 12...

I ask folks to give me some feedback when troubleshooting dC/uC errors with a feel for Wash Basket CCW/Spin direction drive system resistance.

It sounds like the Outer Tub Bearings are going which means you have a Tub Seal Leak that took them out. The Clutch One-Way Roller clutches are probably contaminated. I would bet a bit rusty and are sticking not locking up completely in Spin Cycle causing tumbler movement at the start of Spin Cycle. See my Clutch Fix post I go into a lot of detail for a fix and just what is causing the unbalance errors in Spin Cycle

You could drop the clutch out and see if you can clean up the bearings and relieve the dC/uC unbalance errors for a while longer.

Replacing the bearings is a bit more work see these post for what is involved. If your series is a 12 or above you may have to do as this forum member did.

Series 10 & 11 from what I have learned use the upper One-Way Roller Clutch bearing ring and not the integrated Lower Outer Tub bearing as in I believe the Series 12 and above do.

Series 10 Outer Tub Bearing work I and another forum member are working on. The links will give you some direction if you DIY.

What are the first two digits of your Serial Number? Will be 10 through 17.

Post back if we can help I’m an owner like you not a repair person. I feel the cost to have the Outer Tub Bearing replaced will trigger you to make a replacement decision……Rich
