My LG stays on for about 15 minutes, then there is a audible "pop" and the screen goes blank and no sound. Tried the power button, and it turns off and then I powered it back up. Same thing, except it was only on for 5 minutes. The screen is backlit, giving it a black-bluish tint, so I know the power is still on (plus the green power light). Tried unplugging the power cord all day while at work. Same result.

My model 42LC7D worked fine from January to October. It now shuts off on its own, and needs to be unplugged for several hours in order to work again.

Sometimes it will work for a few hours, sometimes it works for about 20 minutes.

When we took it in for repair, the technicians kept it for one week, had it on 24/7, without any problems. As soon as we brought it home, it started shutting down again within a day or two.

We have tried playing just a DVD, we've tried plugging the satellite receiver into a seperate outlet, but nothing works.

We cannot figure out why it would work for the entire week, non stop, for the tech, but not here at home?

For bobby11 and luis, it is the power supply. Part Number EAY34797001 in the 42" and EAY34796801 in the 32". This is a known problem, and somebody should start a Class Action against LG over this one. Part is available online and easy to swap out for anyone with the most basic knowledge.

Ok, why are you unplugging it? Does the power button not turn the 42LC7D on after it shuts off (after 15 min)?

TURNS OFF ALL THE TIME

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You’ll need to reset the Projection TV and to reset it follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the television and wait for 5 minutes.

2. After 5 minutes unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.

3. Let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute.

4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly into the wall outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved, then the problem is with the power surge protector and not the television.

If the issue is not resolved then this might have happened due to over-voltage. Please check the power supply unit for swollen/bulged capacitors and burnt wires/components on the power supply board of your TV. You should try and turn off the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it. Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in OFF condition. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Printer cycles on/off and displays "improper shut down"

Got the same problem following a message "Printer ink failure" code 0xc19a0035. Instructions say to shut down using button on/off. But printer refused to shutdown. After 30 minutes, I disconnected power cable. Removed cartridges. Reloaded cartridges. Reconnected power cable and got "Improper shutdown" message with continuous cycle. Solution: 1. While the printer is still turned on, unplug all cables and cords at the back of the printer.
2. Unplug the power cord also from the wall outlet...
3. Wait for two minutes.
4. Reconnect power cord to the wall outlet first.
5. Press and hold the pound (#) and six (6) buttons.
6. While holding down the two buttons, reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer and after two seconds, release pound and six buttons.
7. Turn on the printer if it turns off... and it's fixed.
