once you insert the dvd in your laptop,it should asking you what to do in a box.You can choose to play the media and etc.If there is no box pop up,you can try open media player like cyberlink dvd or vlc player, go to file >open media from your dvd player.
When you can't open using the normal button on the dvd drive then you can use a small pin to open the dvd drive by placing the pin in a small hole on the right side of the dvd player next to the button used for opening.
go to the dvd by going into start- computer- cd/dvd/ rite click on the dvd - select the open with option - from the list choose real player- it will open the cd with real player and after that you will be able to watch the dvd using the dvd player

2) Launch DVD player (without disc inside)
3) Open up the "Preferences" of DVD Player
4) Check the box that says "When disc is inserted...Begin playing disc"
