Ps3 sound problem

There is a buzzing through the tv speakers when I plug in the ps3. As long as the ps3 is on the buzzing remains. If I shut it off, it goes away. If I unplug sound cables it also goes away. I switched out the cables and it still buzzes. I can play the games and sound does come out but he buzzing is always there and fairly loud. I have not tried hd cables yet because I do not own them.

Re: ps3 sound problem

If you live in a old building you are having issues with the power. Use a better surge protector and you should be fine. I have seen that happen often. Sometimes you may have to try a couple of different surge protectors to find one that works best for your home.

Re: ps3 sound problem

Hi are you using the leads that have 3 different colours on them if you are then the problem will be they need replacing as their must be a frayed wire inside causing the sound wire to short if you are using the 3 leads try and get scart lead as you will have better picture quality and better sound quality.
Let me know if i have got the leads wrong if you are using the 3 leads have you tried plugging just one sound lead in at a time to see witch is at fault.
Let me know and i can assist you further

My ps3 has these lines coming up from below my tv screen and makes a buzzing sound

Are you using HDMI or AV.

Either way, you will need to reset the settings and try one or the other.

If you have AV, you will need to try HDMI.(we need to eliminate a few possibilities).
If you have HDMI, you will need to plug in your AV cables.

Do the following:

Press and hold the power button until the systems shuts off. (wait 2 seconds)

Press and hold the power button again until you here 3 beeps. Let go.

If you have a HDMI cable, plug it up, if you have AV plug it in as well. If you have both settings on your TV, be sure to have them both inserted into the system. Also, make sure that you are switching your TV from HDMI to AV and vice versa.

It should ask you to connect your controller via usb and press the PS button in

the middle of your controller. There will be a menu with 6 options. Try 2-5.

At times, it's the cables, at times it's the actual motherboard.. At times, it is the TV.

You have your work cut out for tonight.

Good luck and feel free to post with new questions.

Want to use surround sound and use dhmi cords for picture and surround sound

You will need 2 hdmi cables the ps3 a tv with an hdmi port and a audio receiver with hdmi in and out.
1:>First connect the ps3 to the tv with the A/V cables.
2:>Turn the system on and the tv on, get to the ps3 dashboard.
3:>Under the settings tab select (display settings)
4:>Select (video output settings)
5:>Do not disconnect the A/V.
6:>Connect the hdmi cable to the ps3 and tv.
7:>Then select hdmi and select change, this gives you 30 seconds to switch the tv over to the hdmi channel. Once done and you get a signal select (yes).
8:>Disconnect the A/V cable.
9:>Select what inut your tv will support 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. You can select more than one and even all if it is supported by your tv.
10:>Then select hdmi for your audio output, but since your ps3 is connected to the tv only select linear PCM 2channel. Check for sound on the tv's speakers. If check is good then proceed.
11:>Power down the tv and ps3, disconnect the hdmi cable.
12:>Connect the hdmi cable from the ps3 to the input of the audio receiver and the hdmi from the tv to the output on the receiver.
13:>Turn the ps3 on, the receiver on and the tv on. Make sure the receiver is on the right channel. If it is you will see the ps3 come on the tv, and have sound on the main speakers of the receiver and tv.
14:>At this step you should be able to see and here the ps3's dashboard. Now to setup surround.
15:>Scroll to the settings tab and select (sound settings).
16:>Select (audio output settings)
17:>Select (hdmi)
18:>Select (automatic) this will select the basic surround settings that all receivers have.
19:>Hit enter and exit.
20:>From here test the surround with a game or movie.
If for any reason you should need to restart the process, simply plug the A/V cable back in and do a video reset. Have you tried updating to version 2.2? It came out last night. Furthermore, can you try this on a different TV so that you can eliminate that as a variable?

Hd tv but no hdmi plugin, standard red, white yellow plug...when there is a loud noise (explosion, dino roaring etc)I get a loud crackling noise from speakers that actually drowns out the sound fx on a ps3...

Sounds like more of a tv speaker problem then your ps3. You can change the audio settings on the XMB dashboard of your ps3. I think they are default at max.

Make sure the output frequencies set by your PS3 are supported by your TV. Check it's technical specifications for it's speakers supported frequencies and make sure your PS3 only puts out those that are supported.

Otherwise the speakers of your TV can get damaged.
