Problem with Toshiba Laptop A215-S7437

We just bought this computer about 3 months ago. But we have encountered a problem. You can be working away and all of a sudden it will go blank. Nothing will work except to push the power button till it's completely turned off and then turn it back on again. Not sure if it is a hardware problem or a software problem with Vista. Do you have any suggestions as to what might the problem could be?

I've had the same issue from day 1. I picked up my lkaptop from Best Buy, took it home, then started it up. 10 minutes later, It shut off on me. I'm so pissed at this point. When I buy a compppputer, I want to use it without worrying about my work being zapped!

I have had my new A215-S437 Toshiba laptop for a few months. It does the same thing. It shuts down on its own. I have to power it back up, however it will crash again in about 10 minutes of use. I read somewhere that the fan might have too much dust, cuasing it to heat up. I am not a computer whiz so all I can do is try to research this problem.

Update the bios file. They have found a fix for it, and you can download a new bios file from the toshibas support website

I bought a Toshiba 215 on Jan. 11th. After about 2 weeks of having it, it started doing the same exact thing. I took it back on Feb. 8th to Best Buy. The Geek Squad had it for a few days and said my optical drive was bad and that I could replace it because it had been less than 30 days. I've had my laptop now for 4 days and the thing just shut off AGAIN!!!! I seriously think this is definately a Toshiba Laptop problem as I've been reading tonight and have found many people with this same problem!

Toshiba a215-s7437 touchpad will not work

Hi,

Use a USB mouse for the meantime and try doing a system restore to a date when it was working fine before How to perform system restore (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGXbMyFaROw)

If system restore did not resolve the issue then try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for your touchpad.

You can go to toshiba website and download their latest touchpad drivers for your a215-s7437.

hope this helps.

Thank you

Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 Laptop Password Problem?

You should first check if the pasword is set on the hard drive. If so you can simply change the hard drive and it will then boot and ask for the operating system disk. If not, you should try by removing the cmos battery and waiting at least 10 minutes. (this works on older laptops) however, the laptop's power suply cable and battery should be removed prior to performing this procedure.

Problem with Toshiba Laptop A215-S7437

If you go into control panel and check out your power options. Make sure that your system is set to never shut off the monitor. This will of course waste battery power (if you run off battery) so you will have to decide which is best for you.
If the power settings are not to blame then maybe you do have a hardware issue. Some laptops have a hotkey combination that if coincidentally you are typing and you press the right key combination you send it into hibernation. You can check this via the power settings.
