Problem Recording HDD to DVD-R

I have a philips 3450H HDD recorder. I want to put recordings on to a DVD-R blank dvd. I follow the instructions on screen.I select the recording which shows that it will fit on to the disc. When I press the hdd button to record the selected onto the disc the red light comes on and it displays 0% progress, nothing happens and it stops in a few minutes.

Re: Problem Recording HDD to DVD-R

I had a few problems with my philips 3450 - I downloaded the latest software upgrade at , and my issues were resolved. Worth a shot...

Only other thing I can think of is you may have a faulty batch of DVD-Rs?

Best of luck!

Try to scan the DVD data into your PC using the trial version of TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress if this can't find structure data then the recorder must have set the leadin data to show blank.

I bought a Magnavox 810H 160GB HDD/DVD recorder. It's a decent machine which worked perfectly for a few months, but now I can't get it to record to DVD. The HDD recording and playback functions work fine,...

Try switching it over to DVD . Because you may still have it on HDD when you put the disc in it may be that the unit is still thinking you are on HDD and don't recognise it as a disc just the hard drive

Copy recorded pgms off DVD HDD to DVD+RW

the manual specifies that if you select for recording the FR mode the machine automatically adjusts the recording mode for the program to fit on a 4.7G dvd. If you use a dvd DL if will auto detect that you have this type of dvd and the FR mode will automatically allow you to make full use of the available space. Depending on the space needed on the dvd the picture quality will be good to excellent (refer in the manual to Recording Modes..)

I cannot write data from HDD to DVD+RW

The REC Mode of the recordings was set so high that there is not enough space on the DVD to make a recording. Cannot change at this point. For future recordings, switch to LSP or some other non-quality mode.

Can't record from hdd to recordable dvd

Had the same problem on my 6month old 3440H, its the degradation of the cheap Asatech Chinese DVD drive that is the source of the problem. . My 3440H HDD to DVD transfer sequentially degraded, It stopped recording DVD+ and -R's then on RW's it sometimes performed and some not.I gave up using cheap DVD's then with higher quality disks  it would frequently report task completed but then would not plaback or freeze in the way you describe. I bought the DVDR from the CO-OP Xmas 2006. Co-op no longer support electricals so when it went wrong Co-op gave me a service centre to take it to. Long story short Philips dont recognise the service centre and they declared my warrany void. Tried to re-engage with Philips but they basically were not interested in supporting their product..
Not an elegant fix but since Phillips were useless,  I opened the box nothing lose ..I now run it on a bare external Sony DVD drive using extended ribbon and power cables as its a bit tricky to find space in the box to mount the drive.

Philips dvdr3455h/37 recording issues

I was having the same problem if I used DVD+R blanks, but the programs would record fine if I used Memorex DVD+RW rewritables. Until today, that is - now it won't let me burn anything from the HDD to a disk!  My 3455H is about two years old.
Gotta say I'm quite disappointed with it, and would never consider another Philips product. :(

Downloading from hdd to dvd+r ?

When you recorded your "footage" was the dvd recorder set to 2hr (sp), 2.5hr (spp), or 3hr (LP), etc.?Because for example, you downloaded (recorded to your hdd)your "footage" that is say 3hrs long, and your recorder is set to record at 2hrs mode(sp), then when you put a blank dvd in recorder to transfer from hdd to blank dvd, the 3hrs of your "footage" has been recorded in 2hr mode on your hdd, and will only record in 2hr mode onto your blank dvd. Solution is to set your recorder to the record mode in which your "footage" length is. For example, if your "footage" length is 3hrs, set your recorder mode to LP then when you insert your blank dvd should be okay. Or, set your recorder mode to 2hr (sp) and make two recordings of your "footage" onto hdd, splitting them up: 2hr on one, and 1hr on the other. When you burn to blank dvd you will have to have 2 blank dvds, one for 2hrs, the other for 1hr. I had to same thing happen to me. I hope this works for ya.
