Frigidaire model CRWS5700AS0 washing machine burning belts

A neighbor gave us their (relatively) new washing machine when they moved. After the first few loads it started squealing and smoking. The drive belt had been burned where it sat on the motor pulley. Replaced the drive belt and everything was fine for about four months - lots of laundry going through the machine. Then yesterday it did the same thing. What's going on? Is it worth another belt? model CRWS5700AS0

The washer won't start.

you must need to check the motor first if still working. you can directly plug the motor to the ac outlet to ensure if still good. if still good you can check the wiring, look at the wiring diagram post inside at the back portion of the cover serve as your guide.

My washingmachine stopped working and gave off burning smell. How can I determine if its the motor thats burned out or something else?

Had one similar to this about three years ago. That burning smell would be the belt that runs the washer. Relatively easy to repair. You'll need make and model number to get the right replacement belt. Once you have it, get up under it, remove the old belt and put the new one on the same way. The belt will go around the pulley on the bottom of the washer drum, the motor and the tensioner. This should solve your problem. If you need more help, please let me know.

Can you buy a frigidaire stackable washer separately?

Have you had a qualified service man look at your machine? I would think that the burned rubber smell would direct you to examine the belt (found in the very bottom after removal of front cover).
If it is the belt it is a very easy fix on this machine. The not draining part wouldn't be related to the belt the pump that does the draining is driven by its own electric motor and is easily visible when the front cover is off. Its located on the bottom left side. If a sock or other small item manages to get over the side of the basket it always ends up jamming the pump.
You would have to take the pump apart to retrieve the item and restore pump function
Good Luck

you can't really tighten a belt, I suggest that you change it, although it is extremely hard to replace a a new belt yourself. Have you checked the carbon brushes in the motor do not need changing, this could also generate a burning smell and leave you clothes wet if they are worn.

Agitator will not move

Jac, my suggestion is this. The "reverse" gear in the transmission has locked up. The burning smell is coming from the belt. The motor is trying to spin the belt to turn the tranny but it won't turn  'cause it's locked up this causes the belt to burn.

If it's less than 5 years old, the tranny is under warranty. Contact Frigidaire and give them the full model and serial number and schedule a repair. (ask them to bring a belt with them when they come. you'll need one.)
